Him Lam Resistance Center belongs to the central sub-sector of Dien Bien Phu stronghold, 2.5km northeast of General De Castries' command post and is known as the "steel door" of the stronghold. Him Lam Resistance Center was built into 3 strongholds on 3 hills forming a tripod position.

To win the opening battle of Him Lam in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, the land of Him Lam hill was soaked with the blood of hero Phan Dinh Giot and many of his comrades fell bravely.

The conservation and restoration of the Him Lam Resistance Site contributes to preserving the original value of the site; is an act of gratitude to the soldiers and martyrs who fell to make the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory; educates the tradition of patriotism for future generations.
