On December 16, in Tokyo, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the Vietnam-Japan Economic Forum. The forum was organized by the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan in coordination with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
This is an important event, taking place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations and especially less than 1 month after the two countries officially upgraded their relationship to "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World" during the recent visit to Japan by President Vo Van Thuong.

Speaking at the Forum, in front of 600 delegates attending and the hall was full, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh first thanked the large presence of Japanese leaders and businesses, bringing warm feelings and great hope for the relationship between the two countries.
The Prime Minister said that in 2023 - the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, nearly 500 meaningful activities were held in both Vietnam and Japan, contributing to strengthening cooperative relations and deepening friendship and understanding between the people of the two countries.
In particular, President Vo Van Thuong has just successfully concluded his official visit to Japan, together with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, announcing the upgrading of the two countries' relationship to "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World", opening a new page in the history of the Vietnam - Japan friendly cooperation relationship to develop strongly and effectively in all fields and expand cooperation to new fields.
The Prime Minister assessed that after 50 years of nurturing and building, the Vietnam-Japan friendship and cooperation and political trust between the two countries are at a very high level.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that in 2023, Vietnam's economy will continue to achieve encouraging results; the socio-economic situation will continue to have many bright spots in all fields with the results of "better month after month, better quarter after quarter". The macro economy is basically stable, inflation is controlled, growth is promoted, major balances of the economy are ensured. The material and spiritual life of the people is improved.
In the coming time, Vietnam will continue to restructure its economy towards rapid and sustainable development; focusing on developing emerging fields and world trends such as innovation, digital transformation, green economy, circular economy, and sharing economy. In the process, it will continue to maintain political stability, social order and safety, and develop socio-economic infrastructure, etc.
The Prime Minister stated that the upgrading of Vietnam and Japan to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is an important political foundation to continue expanding cooperation space in new areas where both sides have strengths.
The Prime Minister also proposed that Japan support Vietnam in training high-quality human resources and that Vietnam will supply human resources to partners.
Vietnam needs Japan, including businesses, to continue to cooperate and support in the country's industrialization and modernization; financial support with preferential interest rates; support in the transfer of advanced technology and modern management; and suggestions for building and perfecting institutions, mechanisms and policies.
The Prime Minister also proposed that Japan support Vietnam in training high-quality human resources and that Vietnam would provide human resources to its partners. Along with that, cooperation between localities should be promoted; people-to-people exchanges and cultural cooperation should be promoted.
The Prime Minister called on Japanese enterprises to continue to invest and succeed in Vietnam, achieving increasingly higher results, and that the success of investors is also Vietnam's success.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh witnessed the ceremony of exchanging agreements and cooperation documents between ministries, agencies and enterprises of Vietnam and Japan.
Also at the Forum, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh witnessed the handover ceremony of 30 agreements and cooperation documents between ministries, agencies and enterprises of Vietnam and Japan.
In particular, Mr. Ngo Dong Hai, Secretary of Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee, awarded the investment certificate for the LNG power plant project worth 1.99 billion USD to a consortium of 3 investors including Tokyo Gas Company, North Kyuden Electric Company of Japan and Truong Thanh Group of Vietnam.
