Also attending the meeting with voters were National Assembly deputies: Mr. Le Quang Manh, member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Can Tho City; Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Standing Member of the National Assembly's Economic Committee; Major General Nguyen Van Thuan, Director of Can Tho City Police; Mr. Dao Chi Nghia, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Can Tho City; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Chairman of the Council of Can Tho University; leaders of ministries, branches, central and local agencies.

After Deputy Head of the Can Tho National Assembly Delegation Dao Chi Nghia presented an overview of the results of the sixth session of the 15th National Assembly, the Prime Minister, National Assembly deputies and Can Tho City leaders responded to voters' opinions, suggestions and recommendations.

Reporting to voters, the Can Tho National Assembly Delegation said that at the sixth session, the National Assembly reviewed, commented on and passed a large number of draft laws: Passed 7 laws, gave initial comments on 8 laws, and gave comments on the acceptance, revision and adjustment of the time for submission to the National Assembly for approval with 2 draft laws. These are all important laws, having a profound impact on socio-economic life.

The National Assembly acknowledged and highly appreciated the Government, the Prime Minister, the National Assembly agencies, ministries, branches, central agencies and localities for being active, proactive, responsible, urgent and closely coordinated in implementing the review of the system of legal documents.

The National Assembly also decides on important national issues, which are urgent issues that greatly affect the implementation of socio-economic development plans, ensuring national defense and security of localities and the whole country, such as reducing 2% of value-added tax rate until June 30, 2024...

Exercising its supreme supervisory power, the National Assembly conducted a vote of confidence on 44 positions elected or approved by the National Assembly. The voting was conducted strictly, in accordance with regulations, transparently, democratically and objectively.

For the first time, the National Assembly conducted mid-term supervision and integrated supervision of all three major national target programs. This supervision topic is comprehensive, large-scale, highly complex, covering many laws and policies, affecting the lives of all people, especially in remote, border and island areas, ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

The National Assembly spent 2.5 days questioning the implementation of thematic supervision resolutions and questioning of the 14th National Assembly and from the beginning of the 15th National Assembly's term to the end of the 4th session with 21 fields in 4 content groups: General economy; sectoral economy; internal affairs, justice; culture, society.

The activities of the National Assembly have undergone many changes in a practical direction, reflecting the wishes of voters, bringing about many positive impacts, consensus and support from compatriots and voters nationwide. The sessions are arranged more reasonably, creating conditions for the Government and the presenting agencies to have time to absorb, explain and complete the presented content.

This is the first time in the 15th tenure that the Prime Minister, all Deputy Prime Ministers and 21 ministers and heads of sectors have directly answered questions from National Assembly deputies, with a very wide scope, related to 21 different fields, 10 resolutions of the National Assembly, on the basis of arranging into 4 groups of fields according to the initiative of the National Assembly Standing Committee.

Reports and opinions of voters at the meeting assessed that in 2023, in the context of many difficulties and challenges from both inside and outside, under the leadership of the Party Central Committee, directly and regularly by the Politburo and the Secretariat, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; with the participation of the entire political system, the close accompaniment and coordination of the National Assembly; the drastic, synchronous and flexible direction and administration of the Government and the Prime Minister; the consensus and active participation of the business community and people; the support of international friends... the socio-economic situation in November and 11 months continued a positive trend, each month was better than the previous month, achieving the set general goals and many important results in all fields.

The macro economy is basically stable, inflation is controlled, growth is promoted, major balances are ensured. Cultural and social fields are focused on, basic social indicators are completed, many indicators exceed the plan. The socio-political situation is stable; national defense and security are maintained; social order and safety are basically guaranteed; anti-corruption and negativity are resolutely implemented. Foreign affairs and international integration activities are promoted, many high-level foreign affairs activities take place continuously and successfully.

As for Can Tho, GRDP in 2023 is estimated to increase by 5.75%; GRDP per capita in 2023 is estimated to reach 94.12 million VND, up 9.45% compared to 2022. Total state budget revenue is estimated to exceed the target (0.9%). Disbursement of investment capital by January 30, 2024 reached 95.72% of the plan. Total number of visitors to the city is 5.988 million, exceeding 15% of the plan, up 17% compared to 2022. The city has submitted and the Prime Minister has approved the Can Tho Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2030...

Speaking at the meeting with voters, on behalf of the Party and State leaders and with personal feelings, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent his best wishes to the people and voters on the occasion of the New Year; and his best wishes for a peaceful and happy Christmas to Catholic dignitaries and compatriots on the occasion of the upcoming Christmas season.

The Prime Minister was pleased that Vinh Thanh district has many people with many religions (Catholicism, Buddhism, Hoa Hao Buddhism, Cao Dai), but people with and without religion in every period have always followed the Party wholeheartedly, promoted patriotism, the spirit of great national unity, contributed to the cause of national liberation and unification in the past and the cause of building and defending the Fatherland today.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the Party and State always respect, ensure and protect human rights and civil rights, including freedom of belief, religion and non-belief and religion of all people; constantly care for socio-economic development, create conditions for religious people and religious dignitaries to properly carry out religious activities and activities in accordance with the law and fulfill their obligations as citizens.

The Prime Minister said that in the overall foreign relations, the Vietnam-Vatican relationship has continued to develop positively and well in recent years and is being further promoted. Last July, at the invitation of Pope Francis, President Vo Van Thuong visited the Vatican. In September, Pope Francis sent a letter to the Vietnamese Catholic community on the occasion of approving the Regulations on the activities of the Permanent Representative and the Office of the Permanent Representative of the Holy See in Vietnam.

The Prime Minister hopes that priests and Catholics will continue to strictly implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies, carry out good activities, stay close to and accompany the country and people, contribute to the increasingly good development of Vietnam-Vatican relations, and contribute to building a rich, civilized, and prosperous Vietnam, and for the people to be increasingly well-off and happy.

We need to continue to systematically and synchronously implement tasks such as building, promoting and protecting brands, doing a good job of planning, mobilizing the participation of businesses and banks, building cooperatives for joint ventures, associations, applying science and technology, building geographical indications, paying attention to packaging and design... The development direction is high-quality, low-emission agricultural products.

Along with that, doing a good job of trade promotion, developing traditional markets and exploiting new markets. The Prime Minister said that recently, he has discussed, promoted negotiations and signed agreements on rice trade with countries such as the Philippines, Indonesia, free trade agreements with Middle Eastern countries to exploit the Halal food market...
