On the afternoon of November 16 local time (early morning of November 17 Hanoi time), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, arrived at Galeao Military Airport in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to begin a working trip to attend the G20 Summit there.
Welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife and the Vietnamese delegation at Rio de Janeiro airport were representatives of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil Bui Van Nghi; officials and staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Brazil.
At the invitation of the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Chair of the Group of 20 leading developed and emerging economies (G20) in 2024 Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and his wife, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam attended the G20 Summit and conducted a number of bilateral activities in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from November 16 to 19.
This is the fifth time Vietnam has been invited to attend a G20 Summit and the first time Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has attended a G20 Summit.
The 19th G20 Summit has the theme "Building a Fair World and a Sustainable Planet" with the participation of Leaders of official G20 members, heads of state and government of 19 guest countries and leaders of 15 key international organizations.
It is expected that by attending and speaking at activities within the framework of the G20 Summit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will convey the message of a dynamic, innovative Vietnam, ready to shoulder global responsibilities; proactively, positively and responsibly contributing to key and urgent issues of the world, commensurate with Vietnam's position and strength as it enters a new era of national development.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will also have bilateral meetings with leaders of economies, countries and international organizations attending the Conference. In particular, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will have bilateral activities with Brazil, such as talks with Brazilian President Lula da Silva, and participate in activities to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Brazil.
Through these activities, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s working trip affirmed Vietnam’s position, prestige, responsibility and contributions in important international forums; further strengthened and opened a new phase in the relationship between Vietnam and Brazil and other countries and international organizations; contributed to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the two regions of Latin America, ASEAN and the world./.
