Provincial leaders survey river tourism routes in An Giang
Attractive nature
An Giang's terrain is more prominent than neighboring localities in the region, with a mix of delta and mountainous terrain. An Giang is also the source of the Tien and Hau rivers, flowing through a dense system of rivers, canals, and streams, interwoven with many large and small rivers, canals, and streams... Combined with the island plains, many types of crops, fruit gardens, and raft villages on the river... create a cool, peaceful green space.
Coming to An Giang, tourists can join a boat tour to enjoy the beautiful river scenery, discover how the locals cast nets, cast hooks, and catch fish, enjoy traditional music, and diverse cuisine on boats... At the same time, tourists can also relax in riverside motels to enjoy the feeling of being close to nature.
Long Xuyen floating market
Unique floating market
Located on the peaceful Hau River, Long Xuyen Floating Market has become a must-see destination for tourists visiting An Giang. This is a wholesale market that sells many goods brought by merchants from all over the place, anchored and bought and sold to people, then resold to consumers everywhere.
To get to the floating market, visitors rent a boat starting from O Moi ferry, running along the Hau River for about 2km. Although not as noisy and bustling as other floating markets in the West, Long Xuyen floating market has its own unique features, with boats and canoes anchored closely together in clusters to buy, sell and exchange goods. A typical cultural feature of the floating market is that goods are displayed and introduced on a pole that locals call "cay beo". Customers can look at the "cay beo" hanging in front of the boat to choose the product they want to buy, each boat will sell a different item, from vegetables, tubers, fruits to essential items for daily life.
The best time to visit Long Xuyen floating market is around 5-6am. The highlight of the floating market is the small boats selling food and drinks to serve tourists with a “Western flair”. Coming to the floating market, visitors can watch the sunrise on the river, enjoy delicious rustic dishes such as: Bun rieu, bun ca, banh tam and sip a cup of coffee to enjoy the feeling of eating while swaying with the waves.
The first time coming to Long Xuyen floating market, Ms. Pham Thi Thu Trang (Ho Chi Minh City) shared: “I am very impressed with the way of trading and cuisine right on the boats at the floating market. The experiential activities are very interesting, the people of An Giang river region are very enthusiastic, cheerful and sincere”.
Colorful raft village at Chau Doc river junction
Colorful raft village
An Giang also has a floating village on Chau Doc River, a place that tourists cannot miss when coming to An Giang. This is a place for traditional freshwater fish farming on the river, carrying with it many unique and interesting customs and practices of An Giang.
The special feature of the raft village is the floating houses and fish rafts nestled close together, forming a "village" along the river, stretching about 4km. In early 2024, this place was dressed in a colorful shirt. Here, 165 fish cages stretching along a nearly 1km stretch of the river were painted in the colors: Red, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, creating a colorful "rainbow", leaving a unique impression on the perspective for tourists in the Chau Doc River junction area, considered a highlight for An Giang tourism.
Tourists take a boat from the Chau Doc River junction to visit Chau Doc floating village; experience the life of the people, how they raise fish in cages, experience the river environment. Then, tourists can visit the Cham village, the mosque, see the traditional brocade weaving of the Cham people, learn about the custom of living in stilt houses, and immerse themselves in the life of the people here. Mr. Nguyen Huu Nghia (a fish farmer in the colorful raft village) shared: “In addition to raising fish, I also organize for tourists to visit, experience and enjoy specialties of An Giang river in the raft cages. In addition, I also connect with tourist boats for tourists to visit the beautiful scenery on the river.”
Come to An Giang to experience, explore, enjoy extremely attractive specialties and feel the warmth, kindness, sincerity and affection of the people of the river region of An Giang.

Specifically, the province will plan to promote the operation of inland waterway ports connecting with road traffic to serve socio-economic development as well as people's lives in river areas. Currently, eco-tourism with an environmentally friendly orientation is one of the types of tourism with a lot of development potential, as well as a tourism trend in the coming time.
