This is also the reason why the bridge has deteriorated and is classified as a weak bridge system in the locality.

Previously, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province issued a document requesting the Department of Transport, the Department of Planning and Investment, the Department of Finance, and the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board to advise on procedures and establish an investment policy for the Binh Thanh suspension bridge project in Huong Tra town.

Binh Thanh Bridge was built in 2001 (23 years now). Binh Thanh Bridge is a single-span suspension bridge 140 m long. The bridge is 4 m wide, with a steel longitudinal and transverse beam system, supporting the bridge deck with prefabricated concrete panels. Currently, the bridge components have seriously degraded, the allowable operating load is only 8 tons, not meeting traffic needs; research to invest in building a new bridge to replace the current suspension bridge is extremely necessary.

The investment project to build a new Binh Thanh suspension bridge has a total length of about 500 m, starting at the intersection of National Highway 49 (about 100 m from the existing intersection towards Hue city) and ending at the intersection with the inter-village road of Binh Thanh commune and Provincial Road 12D.

The project has a total investment of more than 75 billion VND from the provincial budget, with an implementation period of 3 years.

The total length of the bridge to the end of the abutment is about 254.5 m. The width of the bridge is 8.5 m; the design load is HL93 and the number of people is 300 kg/m2, with a permanent scale. The road at both ends of the bridge, the roadbed width is 9 m; The road surface width is 7 m. The design load of the road surface, the axle is 10 tons. New installation of traffic safety systems according to regulations. Lighting system on the approach roads at both ends of the bridge and on the bridge.

The Binh Thanh suspension bridge project aims to improve traffic capacity and meet the transportation needs in the area. Gradually completing the traffic planning in Binh Thanh commune in particular and Huong Tra town in general will contribute to the early completion of urban embellishment and promote local socio -economic development.
