Despite having a much higher ranking than his opponent, Vietnam's number 1 tennis player had a difficult match against the difficult playing style of the young Korean talent.

In both sets, Kim Min Ji caused many difficulties for Thuy Linh in the beginning, but in the second half of the set, her bravery and experience helped the number 1 seed gain important points and win.

In set 1, Kim Min Ji continuously took the lead. At one point, the Korean player led Thuy Linh 18-14, but thanks to her ability to speak up at the right time, the home player rallied to lead 19-18 before winning 21-19.

Set 2 went easier for Thuy Linh. The player from Phu Tho started well and soon took the lead with a difference of 11-5.

Even though the opponent then scored 4 consecutive points to shorten the score to 9-11, Thuy Linh still maintained the lead before winning 21-16.

Defeating Kim Min Ji 2-0 (21-19, 21-16), Thuy Linh entered the final to meet Chinese tennis player Cai Yan Yan (China, world rank 107), who defeated Ashmita Chaliha (India, world rank 211) in the other semi-final.

This is the fourth consecutive time Thuy Linh has reached the final of the Vietnam Open. In the previous three times in 2022, 2023 and 2024, Thuy Linh won all of them.
