New opportunities for the Vietnamese gaming industry
The game industry has been making significant strides in Vietnam in recent years. In Vietnam alone, there are currently more than 430,000 game developers and the industry is growing at a strong rate.
However, the Vietnamese market is famous for Hyper Casual Games (simple games on mobile devices). These types of games are only invested in for the short term, only needing 2-3 weeks to be released.
Meanwhile, players today tend to choose games with better quality, with strong investment in images, storylines and experiences. This makes Vietnamese game studios gradually shift to building quality games, promoting the game production industry in Vietnam to develop in depth and become more sustainable.
Thousand dollar salary but still lack of staff
“Thirst” for human resources in game production is the common opinion of all businesses participating in the discussion “Vietnamese Games: Potential and Opportunities”.
As one of the experienced developers and producers of online games on mobile platforms in Vietnam, Mr. Pham Ngoc Hieu - Product Development Director at GihOt Studio said: " For the game programming department alone, the salary ranges from 20 to 50 million VND, or even higher. The graphics department in the game also has a fairly high salary from 20-40 million VND.
As for the quality testing department (QA & QC), the salary also fluctuates from 15-30 million VND. With such attractive income, it is not easy to recruit suitable and qualified employees. We are willing to accept potential interns and train them right at the company .
Game design, game programming, game graphics... are positions that Game Studios are "red-eyed" looking for people despite high salaries of thousands of USD.
Liking gaming is a prerequisite for pursuing this industry, however, knowledge and expertise are more important. In addition, if candidates lack the spirit of learning or updating knowledge, new technology is too slow or cannot withstand work pressure, they will find it difficult to survive in this profession.
Professional training program is needed
Faced with the actual needs of businesses operating in the field of game production, the need for a team of professional staff, equipped with basic knowledge and standard skills in the field of Game Design is extremely necessary right now.
From aneducational and training perspective, the need for a specialized, comprehensive training program in the field of game programming is of great interest to Gen Z youth and related businesses.

The Game Programming training program passed 3 rounds of evaluation from game production enterprises in Vietnam. This is a training program based on the needs of society and enterprises with the goal of providing high-quality human resources, suitable for the criteria set by enterprises .
FPT Polytechnic representative introduced the Game Programming training program in an impressive style.
Accordingly, students who choose to study Game Programming at FPT Polytechnic will experience a highly practical learning environment through project-based learning methods, and can even participate in projects ordered by businesses.
It is known that the study program at FPT Polytechnic will last for 2 years (6 consecutive semesters) with 70% of the time spent on practice and covering the entire end-to-end process of creating a game. Thanks to that, students will have an overview and logic of the stages in game production, and at the same time be fully equipped with knowledge and skills in game programming.
