Musician Thanh Su - real name Nguyen Van Su, born and raised in Hoa Nghia commune, Cho Lach district - had an early affinity for music and lyrics since childhood.
His father was the first person to instill his passion, and since then, his musical journey has been a never-ending one. From the high school art troupe to the Ho Chi Minh City School of Professional Theory II (1978–1981), then working in the provincial culture and information sector, he quietly composed, studied, and contributed until his retirement in 2017. But in reality, he has never left music .
Musician Thanh Su, the poet who composes poetry with a sympathetic heart
Musician Thanh Su not only writes music, he is the one who breathes life into poetry, making music give wings to the words that quietly fly high.
Poems written by him such as "Night and I", "Baby's Dream" (poem by Phan Van Mai), "Father's Love and Mother's Love" (poem by Tong Thu Ngan), "Homeland's Folk Song" (poem by Winter Sunshine)... become profound, pervasive and full of vitality.
He once said: "Composing poetry is a matter of fate, not every poem can be put to music. It must touch the emotions to be able to write." It is this empathy that has helped him connect with many souls through melody and through each lyric.
