According to RT, when the Russian army entered Donbass, they saw a German-made Marder infantry fighting vehicle. This vehicle was still in almost perfect condition.
Video footage released by the government shows the weapons that Germany delivered to Kiev being abandoned by the Ukrainian army near the village of Severnoe, about 5 km west of the Russian-controlled stronghold of Avdeevka.
Before the vehicle was discovered, Kiev forces attempted to push the Russians out of the village but failed. The Marder became stuck in the mud after the failed attack and was abandoned by Ukrainian forces.
“The armored vehicle is still in working order, with almost all components functioning as expected… The Marder will not be put into service but is perfectly suitable for dismantling and study,” said a military expert.
As of February, Germany had sent a total of 90 Marder 1A3 armored fighting vehicles to Ukraine, with another 30 on the way. The first deliveries are scheduled for March 2023.
In recent days, Russia's fierce firepower has caused the Ukrainian Armed Forces to suffer heavy losses of equipment. The report made public on March 23 by the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost two armored fighting vehicles and five motor vehicles, a Czech-made DANA self-propelled artillery system, a D-20 self-propelled artillery system, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system and an American-made M119 gun in the Donetsk People's Republic (self-proclaimed).
In the Kherson direction, units of the Dnieper Group of Forces (Russia) attacked the 128th, 65th, 35th Motorized Marine Brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Rabotino (Zaporozhye Region), Tokarevka (Kherson Region). Ukrainian losses were 5 pickup trucks and 2 US-made M777 artillery systems.
Russian air defense systems shot down 171 drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 29 missiles launched from the US-made HIMARS system and the Czech-made Vampire system.
Up to this point, a total of 577 aircraft and 270 helicopters, 16,736 drones, 489 air defense missile systems, 15,576 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,254 combat vehicles, 8,497 field artillery pieces and mortars of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were destroyed by the Russian army during the special military operation.
