Tien Giang: Evaluation and classification of provincial OCOP products, phase 1, 2025

The conference was chaired by comrade Pham Van Trong, Vice Chairman of Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee; along with members of the Evaluation Council and other subjects.

There are 26 products participating in this evaluation, including: 14 products (including 4 re-evaluated products) of Dong Nghi Agricultural Cooperative (Chau Thanh district); 1 product of Nhu Thuy Tien One Member Co., Ltd. (Cai Lay town); 8 products (including 4 re-evaluated products) of Tri Son Trading Service Co., Ltd. (My Tho city); 3 products (re-evaluated) of Vinh Hien Co., Ltd. (Go Cong Tay district).

At the conference, the subjects presented the processing procedures, unique characteristics, and product improvements. The members of the Evaluation Council commented and gave suggestions on the products.

As a result, 20 products achieved 4-star OCOP; 6 products achieved 5-star OCOP potential, including: Refined bird's nest, Cordyceps freeze-dried bird's nest, Ginger freeze-dried bird's nest (Tri Son Trading Service Co., Ltd.); Do Quyen rice, VietGAP brown rice, Khong Tuoc Nguyen rice (Vinh Hien Co., Ltd.).

According to Vice President of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Tien Giang Province Nguyen Thanh Hien, OCOP products have both opportunities and challenges in the face of counterfeit, fake and poor quality products.

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Mr. Pham Van Trong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the OCOP Product Evaluation Council of Tien Giang province said: For OCOP products to develop sustainably, it is necessary to pay attention to all stages from packaging to improving product quality. Currently, OCOP products are trusted and highly appreciated by consumers.

Looking back at the process of building OCOP products in Tien Giang, it can be seen that when first starting to implement OCOP products, there were many difficulties. Through the process of learning and researching, Tien Giang developed OCOP products more strongly and welcomed the spirit of the subjects. However, Tien Giang currently only has one 5-star OCOP product, which is Soursop Tea, which is still too little compared to the province's potential. Building a 5-star OCOP product requires a lot of investment in production, processing, and product introduction in the direction of exploiting and developing local products...
