Tien Giang: Solidarity, joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses

(ABO) Responding to the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" nationwide launched by the Prime Minister, Tien Giang Provincial Party Committee has issued a Decision to establish a Steering Committee on housing development and elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province. In districts, cities and towns, 163/164 communes, wards and towns have established Steering Committees. The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) of the province has also issued an Open Letter calling for contributions from cadres, civil servants, agencies, businesses and people inside and outside the province.

Through a field survey, the whole province has 485 temporary houses and dilapidated houses that need to be built. By May 14, 2025, 102 houses will be reviewed and added. Thus, through the review, Tien Giang has 587 houses for policy households, poor households, and near-poor households that need to be built (specifically: 136 houses for policy households, the rest are poor households, near-poor households); of which, 350 houses are newly built, 237 are repaired. As a result, by April 20, 2025, 486 houses have been completed and put into use, the remaining 101 houses are striving to be completed before June 30, 2025.

The budget for building temporary and dilapidated houses for policy families is allocated with a target of 2025 to the district budget; for poor and near-poor households, it will come from the 5% savings of regular expenditures in 2024.

The Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organizations mobilized from many different sources to organize the construction and handover of 220 Great Solidarity houses to poor and near-poor households, with a total cost of 11.2 billion VND (of which 105 were from the Fatherland Front Committee and 115 were from socio-political organizations); directly supported 2,155 working days to help policy families, poor and near-poor households in building houses.

At the same time, the organization supervised 68 meetings on the implementation of the emulation movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses"; focusing on contents such as: Evaluation, funding, settlement, publicity...

It can be affirmed that the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" nationwide in 2025 launched by the Prime Minister is a policy unified by the Government, ministries, branches, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations from the central to local levels, with state funding and the spirit of solidarity and sharing difficulties from agencies, organizations, businesses... contributions have brought joy to policy families, poor households, and near-poor households to have housing to stabilize their lives, contributing to building increasingly beautiful new rural areas.
