Implementing the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program, Tien Hai district has achieved many positive results in recent times. After classification, OCOP products help to increase their value, expand their markets, and boost sales for participating businesses.

Leveraging the advantages of its coastal location with a thriving fisheries industry, Ngoc Minh Seafood Company Limited (Nam Thinh commune) has focused on purchasing and processing seafood in recent years, while also emphasizing brand building for its products. Annually, the company purchases, processes, and sells approximately 1,800 tons of various seafood products to supply numerous restaurants, eateries, and food businesses both within and outside the province.

Mr. Pham Van Dong, Director of Ngoc Minh Seafood Co., Ltd., said: Recognizing the value of the OCOP program, from 2022 to the present, the company has invested in expanding production and successfully developed 6 OCOP products that achieved 3-star provincial certification, including: dried sea shrimp, shrimp meat, grouper fish cake, shrimp cake, catfish cake, and braised eel. Since being recognized as OCOP products, the company's products have become widely known to consumers inside and outside the province. Currently, the company's processed seafood products are available in many supermarkets and stores in Thai Binh, Hanoi , Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hai Duong provinces, etc. In addition, the company has also promoted sales through its Facebook and Zalo channels, as well as the OCOP Association of Tien Hai district. This has helped the company increase sales, reaching over 16 billion VND annually.

To date, Tien Hai district has 42 OCOP products from 27 entities in 18 communes that have been recognized with the "14/10 agricultural product" brand, including 4 products achieving 4-star OCOP status, and the rest achieving 3-star status. The district's OCOP products cover many different production sectors, from agricultural products such as rice, eggs, meat, vegetables, garlic, peanuts, and mushrooms to seafood such as fish, shrimp, prawns, squid, snails, and frogs, as well as processed products like sausages, ham, vermicelli, wine, braised fish, and medicinal products such as tea and essential oils, and handicrafts such as rattan and bamboo weaving and mat weaving.

Mr. Do Thanh Trung, Deputy Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of the district, said: To achieve good results for the OCOP program, the Department has actively advised the District People's Committee to implement the planned contents. Along with that, there has been active participation from all levels, sectors, and localities in the implementation. In addition, the district has supported businesses in accessing markets through product promotion and introduction activities, providing 80 million VND in support for each OCOP product and business; guiding businesses to participate in many trade fairs inside and outside the province to display and promote local products.

Although only established at the beginning of this year, the OCOP Association of Tien Hai District has clearly demonstrated its role in supporting its members to operate effectively in production and business, building, promoting, and introducing OCOP products under the common brand "14/10 agricultural products". Not only actively participating in trade fairs, the Association has also created Facebook and Zalo pages and opened a showroom at its headquarters. This has helped many members increase their sales revenue and connect with various associations, sectors, cooperatives, and customer partners to expand the market for OCOP products.

According to Mr. Bui Van Khai, Director of Seafood Processing Company No. 6 (Nam Cuong commune): The company currently has one 3-star OCOP product, "Tien Chau fish sauce". By participating in the Tien Hai District OCOP Association, the company has received support from fellow members in connecting with businesses and consumers; assistance in selling through e-commerce channels; and participation in promoting and showcasing products at trade fairs. This has helped the company access and expand its product market, increasing sales compared to before.

Mr. Ngo Van Duan, Chairman of the OCOP Association of Tien Hai District, said: Currently, the Association has 27 members with 42 OCOP products. To support the consumption of products for its members, from the beginning of the year, the Association has developed plans and programs to introduce OCOP products of its members to participate in trade promotion programs and fairs; and launched an e-commerce platform to sell products for members on social media channels. Through these sales channels, the OCOP products of the associations have been quickly sold and are chosen and trusted by customers in many places.

In 2024, Tien Hai district aims to have at least 15 more OCOP products, bringing the total number of OCOP products in the district to over 50. To expand the market for OCOP products, the district will consolidate and upgrade already evaluated and ranked OCOP products; promote trade, guiding OCOP producers to participate in modern sales channels such as supermarkets, convenience stores, and e-commerce platforms; and strengthen management and improve food safety and quality for OCOP products.
