Phu Tho 27-year-old pregnant woman, critical due to lack of blood for transfusion, Hung Vuong Hospital brought 8 units of blood, transfused to the patient on the way.
The patient was rushed to the emergency room at a nearby clinic in a state of cardiac and respiratory arrest due to a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, and his life was in danger. However, the clinic did not have enough blood and supplies to transfuse, so they only used vasopressors and infused the medicine, while simultaneously activating a system-wide alarm and taking the patient to a higher level.
On June 22, Dr. Nguyen Van Ngoc, Deputy Director of Hung Vuong General Hospital, said that this case required an emergency blood transfusion to save his life, "every second is gold, we must make the most of it". Therefore, the doctor dispatched an ambulance carrying 8 units of type O blood, along with another emergency team running in the opposite direction, and when they met on the road, they would immediately transfuse blood.
About 10 minutes later, the pregnant woman received a blood transfusion in the ambulance. At the same time, the hospital prepared an on-site surgical team, including anesthesiologists, resuscitators, and hematologists, ready to provide emergency care upon receiving the patient.
According to Dr. Ngoc, the patient lost blood due to a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, and her abdomen was filled with blood. The surgical team cleaned the abdomen and transfused three units of blood, plasma, and blood products. Currently, the patient is out of danger, and her vital signs are gradually stabilizing, but she still needs intensive care and monitoring.

Ectopic pregnancy is a fertilized egg that implants and develops outside the uterine cavity. Ectopic pregnancy accounts for 1-2% of pregnancies and is the leading cause of fetal death in the first three months of pregnancy.
When pregnant ectopic, the woman will have abdominal pain at the location of the implantation, lower abdominal pain. The abdominal pain can be prolonged, dull pain, or severe pain with vaginal bleeding, even fainting due to shock, blood loss, affecting life.
Doctors recommend that women with symptoms such as delayed menstruation, abdominal pain, vaginal bleeding, etc. should go to a medical facility for early examination for timely treatment. In case of old surgical scars in the uterus, regular examinations are needed to determine the exact location of the fetus, to avoid missing ectopic pregnancies and pregnancies in old cesarean scars.
