On the morning of August 19, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training held a conference to summarize the 2024-2025 school year and deploy preschool education tasks for the 2025-2026 school year.

Continue to develop appropriate preschool programs

In the first school year after the merger, Ho Chi Minh City is now a megacity with 168 wards, communes, and special zones. The entire city currently has 1,839 kindergartens, 23,405 classes with a total of more than half a million children studying.

Therefore, the city's preschool sector has determined that this school year will be a pivotal year to consolidate, improve and promote the development of educational quality through key tasks and accompanying solutions.

Specifically, this year the preschool sector will have key tasks such as: building and implementing preschool education programs; continuing to develop appropriate programs...; expanding the model of implementing high-quality educational content...

One of the solutions to improve the quality of preschool education programs is to implement the content of "building child-centered preschools" and to implement the program of "familiarizing children with English".

At the conference, Ms. Luong Thi Hong Diep, Head of the Preschool Education Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, emphasized: "Ho Chi Minh City will promote the city's preschool children to be exposed to English, having the opportunity to develop this language right from preschool age. Next school year, after the merger, students in the city's new localities will also have these opportunities."

Synchronously deploy multiple solutions

Ho Chi Minh City will implement many synchronous solutions from this school year, in which preschools must meet the requirements of supporting children in language development and familiarizing themselves with English. The city also coordinates the implementation of an integrated English program, and continues to pilot surveys on familiarizing preschool children with English according to the needs of preschools.

At the conference, delegates also emphasized the solution of applying digital transformation in English familiarization, to increase the coverage and quality of this program at preschool level.

Reporting at the conference, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Lan - General Director, EMG Education - said that EMG has currently researched and deployed the "Immersive Preschool Technology Platform Application Program and English Proficiency Assessment Toolkit for Children from 3 to 6 Years Old". These are all digital transformation solutions that are scientifically designed, suitable for the development characteristics of preschool children, and at the same time meet the trend of educational innovation today.

Many delegates also said that introducing preschool children to English from the early years of life not only contributes to forming a solid foundation for learning foreign languages at the next levels of education, but also meets the direction of gradually making English the second language in schools according to Conclusion No. 91 of the Politburo .

Proactive innovation

At the conference, Ms. Le Thuy My Chau - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City - agreed with the direction and tasks set forth by the head of the city's preschool education department. In the 2025-2026 school year, in the new socio-economic context, Ms. Chau suggested that the city's preschool sector should actively promote the achievements that have been achieved, proactively innovate and create in carrying out the assigned tasks.
