The main objective of the Workshop is to seek breakthrough ideas and strategic directions for the socio-economic development of Lam Dong province after merging with two neighboring provinces, Binh Thuan and Dak Nong, in the period of 2026 - 2030 and the following years.

In his concluding remarks at the workshop, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Tran Hong Thai affirmed that, through the contributions of experts, the provinces frankly acknowledged that the economic situation of all three provinces before the merger still had many difficulties and challenges, especially the failure to fully exploit the available potential and advantages.

However, he also expressed optimism about the future development of Lam Dong province after the merger. According to Mr. Tran Hong Thai, the socio-economic development potential of Lam Dong province after the merger is very large, especially in areas such as agricultural processing industry, sustainable metallurgy industry, clean energy industry, trade and services, tourism and marine economy.

"The organization of this workshop to contribute ideas for socio-economic development orientation demonstrates the spirit of openness and high responsibility of the three provinces. We believe that this will be a solid foundation for the province to make strong changes, overcome the shortcomings and limitations and maximize the strength and advantages of each region, each area and each field," Mr. Tran Hong Thai emphasized.

ORIENTATION FOR COMPREHENSIVE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

This conference had many in-depth analyses, pointing out untapped potentials, limitations that are hindering development, as well as proposing a series of breakthrough solutions on infrastructure, institutions, human resources, innovation and regional connectivity.

These solutions will help Lam Dong province have a more comprehensive view of the development picture in new spaces, from the highlands to the coast and borders.

Accordingly, the province will focus on the main goals of: Developing green economy, digital economy and innovation, with emphasis on transforming the growth model towards modernization, applying technology, effectively exploiting resources and promoting new driving forces.

Multi-regional and multi-polar linkage: Maximizing the advantages of a province with enough plateaus - coasts - borders, reorganizing development space towards integration, multi-centers and effective linkage between dynamic axes.

Inclusive, people-centered development: Putting people in the position of the subject, businesses as the driving force and the government as the creator - service. Ensuring that all people enjoy the fruits of development.

Enhance autonomy and resource mobilization capacity: Self-reliance, gradually reduce dependence on the central budget, promote internal resources, and unleash social resources.

Ensuring national defense, security and social stability: Maintaining political security, social order and safety, protecting border and island sovereignty, and at the same time strengthening the great national unity bloc.

Investors attended the Workshop with the desire to seek information on the main development orientation of Lam Dong province after the merger.

Concluding the workshop, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Hong Thai affirmed that the three provinces will absorb all valuable contributions from experts, scientists and managers to complete and build socio-economic development orientations for the 2021-2025 term, as well as shape key tasks in the upcoming Provincial Party Congress Documents.

We hope to continue receiving attention and comments from former provincial leaders and experts to perfect and have the most complete socio-economic development orientation, demonstrating intellectual concentration, summarizing vision, strategy and orientation to create breakthrough and strong development in the future," Mr. Tran Hong Thai emphasized.

The Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee also requested the Document Editorial Team and the Support Unit of the Document Editorial Team of the new Lam Dong Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term to promptly absorb all comments and suggestions at the Workshop to complete the draft Reports serving the Congress Documents to ensure the right quality and on schedule.

Ms. Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh - Vice Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee exchanged opinions on the tourism situation of Dak Nong province at the discussion session.

With clear strategic directions and high determination, the three provinces preparing to merge into the new Lam Dong province are moving towards a new era, an era of growth, with determination and hope to create a prosperous and happy life for the people and contribute to the common prosperity of the country.

He also noted the challenge of arranging the administrative apparatus and proposed moving the administrative center to reduce the load on Da Lat.

Dr. Hoang Huu Phe - Director of R&D Design Company in his presentation proposed scenarios for developing inter-regional connectivity infrastructure, especially for the new Lam Dong province.

He emphasized the balance between tangible resources (bauxite, wind power) and intangible resources (tourism, training facilities) to achieve the highest efficiency.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Mai Van Trinh - Institute of Agricultural Environment: Focus on digital transformation to develop high-tech agriculture.

He emphasized that Lam Dong has many favorable conditions to develop multifunctional agriculture and circular economy. He said that it is necessary to develop digital government and digital agricultural infrastructure in parallel.

Architect Tran Ngoc Chinh

Architect Tran Ngoc Chinh - Chairman of the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association in his speech on economic space associated with the development space of the urban system of Lam Dong province (new) proposed that the urban development orientation of the new province needs to ensure three principles: synchronization, sustainability and regional connectivity.

He emphasized the role of Dalat as the political, cultural and scientific center of the region.

Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Trung Luong - Former Deputy Director of the Institute of Tourism Research proposed restructuring Lam Dong tourism after the merger, focusing on healing tourism, green tourism and experiential tourism.

He emphasized the new development vision and the role of Lam Dong as the new tourism growth pole of the South Central region. He also emphasized that, to develop tourism for the new province, it is impossible to combine the 3 plans of the 3 provinces to create a tourism economy for the new province, but the 3 provinces need to sit down to find a new solution so that tourism can truly become the driving force of the new Lam Dong province.
