During this flood, Cai Kinh commune, Lang Son province had about 59.6 hectares of rice, 6.1 hectares of vegetables and 9.5 hectares of fruit trees flooded, mainly custard apples. Rising floodwaters submerged many custard apple growing areas. The flooding has left custard apple orchards withered and yellow, at risk of total loss.
Faced with that situation, officers and experts of the National Agricultural Extension Center "held hands and guided" farmers directly on measures to restore production.

Mr. Le Van Huan, Bai Danh village, Cai Kinh commune, shared that his family's 500 custard apple orchard had just been submerged in floodwaters for many days. As a result, the trees are now losing their leaves en masse, and their vitality is visibly reduced.
“I heard that today there is a delegation from the Central Government and Lang Son province coming to support our custard apple growers to restore the trees after flooding, so I put aside all my family matters to come here hoping to hear new knowledge to apply to my custard apple garden,” said Mr. Huan.

In the same situation, Mr. Le Duc Hai, Bai Danh village, Cai Kinh commune, is also anxiously looking at his family's custard apple garden: "My family's custard apple garden of 500 trees, including Thai custard apple, Sau custard apple, and Pineapple custard apple, was flooded for 3 days straight after storm No. 11. Seeing the business that I have cultivated for many years facing the risk of going down the drain, I am very sad."
According to comrade Ha Vu Khoi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cai Kinh commune, in Bai Danh village, custard apple is the main crop of the people, so with the attention and support of all levels and sectors to restore it, the commune leaders are also somewhat reassured.

During the training session, experts from the National Agricultural Extension Center directly waded into each custard apple garden, meticulously guiding the people through each operation, explaining as they went. The people were instructed on many recovery methods such as: how to hoe the soil to create ventilation, how to use a pH meter to check the acidity of the soil, how to sprinkle lime powder to disinfect and kill pathogens, how to prune branches and leaves so that the tree can concentrate nutrients, and how to apply biofertilizer properly so that the tree can recover best... all were demonstrated in a detailed and easy-to-understand manner.
In addition, many questions that arose during the practice were answered enthusiastically by the technical staff on the spot. It can be said that these detailed and systematic instructions have helped to reduce the anxiety of farmers about a total crop loss.
After the field practice session, the National Agricultural Extension Center also presented Cai Kinh commune households with 5 tons of microbial fertilizer, 100 liters of environmental treatment products, and many documents and leaflets with detailed instructions on restoring production after storms.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Mr. Le Quoc Thanh - Director of the National Agricultural Extension Center said that this is an activity to implement the urgent direction of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment .
"Although the gift is small, we hope that, together with the technical solutions that have been instructed, people will soon overcome the consequences and stabilize production and life," Mr. Thanh emphasized.

Previously, on the afternoon of October 14, the National Agricultural Extension Center also directly instructed people in Huu Lung commune on how to reinforce pond banks, spread lime around the banks and bottom of aquaculture ponds; how to use biological products to treat the environment; techniques for caring for livestock and poultry after floods and some notes for herd restoration in the coming time.
At the same time, the center also provided 100 liters of EM products to treat the pond environment and 50 liters of disinfectants to disinfect the barn environment for local people.
