The author with his first daughter - baby Ca Phe
Coffee and childhood memories
About 30 years ago, every morning at 5 o'clock, my father used to call: "Wake up, son, let's go have some coffee!".
That was the first time I knew the taste of coffee. At that time, my father, my uncles, and the neighbors woke up early, sat around cups of fragrant coffee, and started the day with friendly stories.
Then some people went to the fields, others went to the market to trade... Just like that, I grew up with the gentle bitter taste and strong aroma of my hometown coffee drops.
Coffee in everyday life
Until now, coffee has always been with me. Coffee helps me stay awake and be more creative in studying and working. I can drink 3-4 cups a day without getting bored, because coffee brings me refreshment and positive energy.
Every morning I stop by the coffee shop (former Soc Trang Provincial Youth Union), where I often sit with my uncles or with the workers at An Nghiep Industrial Park...
People enjoyed coffee while chatting about current events, old jobs, children and grandchildren, the labor situation, jobs, etc. Simple but emotional stories. To me, that coffee table was like a small family, where I could share, listen and learn.
Coffee - a loving name
With a strong love for coffee - a rich, seductive drink, there are days when I can skip breakfast, but a cup of coffee is indispensable to start the day.
That "addictive" feeling has become a part of my life.
Because of that special affection, I nicknamed my first daughter Ca Phe. Because I believe that, like coffee, which is not only loved by Vietnamese people but also popular all over the world - my daughter will also be loved by many people.
