On the evening of June 4, the Vietnam Glory Program 2023 with the theme "Vietnam Will" took place at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace ( Hanoi ).

Speaking at the program, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien said: "Glory of Vietnam" aims to honor and reward collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in patriotic emulation movements. The 18th “Glory of Vietnam” program this year honored and rewarded 5 collectives and 11 outstanding individuals from many professions, in the fields of: economics , culture, sports, education, health, scientific research, national defense, security...

They are simple, close people but dedicated, devoted, and eager to contribute their efforts to the community and society...

President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang shared that this year's "Glory of Vietnam" program chose the theme "Vietnam's Will" to honor and encourage the strength and spirit of overcoming all difficulties and the desire to contribute of the Vietnamese people.

The 16 outstanding examples honored today, although in different professions, fields, and positions, all have one thing in common: the will to rise up, overcome all difficulties and challenges, serve the country, and serve the people. That will is one of the sources of strength of the Vietnamese people and the Vietnamese nation, which has been nurtured throughout more than four thousand years of history.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang hopes that the honored examples will continue to promote their role as leading factors, continue to shine in society, and become typical nuclei of the patriotic emulation movement.

Victory by Vietnamese will

At the program, Mr. Do Van Chien shared about a typical and excellent example that clearly demonstrates the "Vietnamese Will", which is national track and field athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh, who was selected to be honored in the 17th "Vietnam Glory" program in 2022.

At the 32nd Sea Games, Ms. Oanh won 4 gold medals in 4 different running distances. In which, she overcame harsh circumstances, unprecedented in history, that is, within 30 minutes running 2 distances of 1500m and 3000m overcoming obstacles.

Ms. Oanh accepted everything, did not complain, did not give up, entered the race with strong steps, thirsting for victory.

Finally, the Vietnamese golden girl crossed the finish line and won both gold medals, to the surprise and admiration of domestic and international fans.

“What made her so incredibly strong, we can only understand that, because she is a Vietnamese woman, a descendant of Ba Trung and Ba Trieu; she won because of the Vietnamese will,” Mr. Chien shared.

The story of the extraordinary determination of the national women's football team with the excellent achievement of winning the Sea Games 8 times and reaching the 2023 Women's World Cup finals for the first time was emotionally shared by captain Huynh Nhu.

According to Huynh Nhu, reaching the final round of the women's football world cup was a long journey for the team. This achievement was thanks to the love and proper investment from the Government, the General Department of Sports, the Vietnam Football Federation and especially the love of the fans.

Talking about the opponents of the national women's team in the upcoming final round, Huynh Nhu shared that they are all very strong, but the whole team always keeps the belief of never giving up to achieve the best possible results.

Motivation to complete rescue mission successfully

Directly participating in rescuing many people in distress at sea, Mr. Tran Van Khoi, 2nd Deputy Captain of SAR 412 (under the Vietnam Maritime Rescue Center) shared that he felt honored and proud to be one of 11 individuals honored in the program.

On October 8-11, 2020, he joined the authorities to rescue 11 crew members and search for 2 bodies of crew members floating at sea in the incident where the VIETSHIP 01 ship sank in the Cua Viet sea area (Quang Tri).

In the dangerous conditions of a big storm and high waves, Mr. Khoi and the rescue workers of the Center showed courage, determination, and sacrificed themselves to save people in distress.

Mr. Khoi shared that people in distress at sea consider rescue crews as their first support, so he always worries about how to protect the safety of seafarers; minimize risks and damages for those who are unfortunate enough to have accidents at sea.

With his outstanding achievements at work, Mr. Khoi was honored to be the first person in the history of Vietnam Maritime Rescue to be awarded the “Exceptional Act of Courage” by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The awards, rewards and honors are a great motivation for the deputy captain to continue to perform his duties and tasks well.
