The activity was organized with the hope that people and tourists could visit and experience traditional handicraft techniques of the leather - shoe - handbag industry as well as promote the value of Pha Truc Lam Temple - a temple built in the late 19th century to worship the founders of the leather - shoe industry.

Specifically, continuing to implement the project "Organizing traditional festivals in the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake area" of the District People's Committee, based on the plan of the Hang Trong Ward People's Committee on organizing activities to promote the value of the Pha Truc Lam Communal House relic in the ward, in order to contribute to preserving, maintaining and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of the nation, activities to honor and promote the leather and footwear craft were carried out on April 28-29, 2023 in the area with the following activities: Offering incense at Pha Truc Lam Communal House, promoting and introducing leather and footwear products and performing leather and footwear crafts in the communal house grounds.

It can be seen that, in the country's innovation, protecting and promoting the values of historical relics worshiping heroes who fought to protect the country, ancestors of professions... is one of the good traditions of the nation that needs to be revived.

Sharing about this meaningful activity, Mr. Pham Hong Viet, Chairman of the Hanoi Leather and Footwear Association, said that the Vietnamese leather and footwear industry has contributed to the country's 5th largest production and export value. On this occasion, Mr. Pham Hong Viet expressed his hope that incense offering and craft village performances for the leather and footwear industry will be carried out regularly, thereby contributing a small part to promoting tourism in the capital city of Hanoi.

Present at the program, artisan Le Van Thinh, born in 1938, who has studied leather and footwear since 1950, expressed his pride in "mastering one craft, bringing glory to one's life" and sent a message about nurturing passion, diligence, and hard work to modern youth in studying and pursuing traditional crafts in general, including leather and footwear in particular.

Demonstrating leather and shoe craftsmanship at the communal house, artisan Nguyen Thanh Nhan, born in 1976, who has been making shoes and leather since 1992, confided that from the time of learning the craft to the time of working, one must constantly learn and improve professional skills, and success will certainly come. Currently, artisan Thanh Nhan's three children are all passionate about and pursuing their father's craft. "My father passed on his passion for pursuing the craft to his children since middle school. However, it must be seen that it is very difficult to pass on the craft of making leather and shoes to today's young people because the craft requires meticulousness, diligence, and sitting in one place is not their forte..." - said Thanh Nhan./.
