General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong presided over the official welcoming ceremony for the General Secretary and President of China.

At the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Vo Van Thuong and his wife, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping and his wife arrived in Hanoi, starting a State visit to Vietnam from December 12-13, 2023.

On the afternoon of December 12, the official welcoming ceremony for General Secretary andPresident of China Xi Jinping and his wife was solemnly held at the Presidential Palace according to the highest protocol reserved for welcoming heads of state. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife presided over the welcoming ceremony.

Attending the welcoming ceremony were comrades: Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Permanent member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Commission; Phan Dinh Trac, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission; Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; General To Lam, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security; General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Minister of National Defense ; Le Minh Hung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Central Office; Do Van Chien, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Le Minh Khai, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central External Relations Commission; Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President; Bui Thanh Son, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs... and many other members of the Party Central Committee, leaders of ministries, departments, branches, central agencies and Hanoi City, and the Office of the General Secretary.

A large number of children and people in the capital warmly welcomed General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife, along with the high-ranking delegation of the Chinese Party and State.

The motorcade carrying General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife entered the Presidential Palace. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife warmly welcomed General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife. The two sides introduced the officials present at the welcoming ceremony.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong invited General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to step up to the podium. Cannons fired majestically. Military bands played the national anthems of the two countries. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping reviewed the honor guard of the Vietnam People's Army.

The State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, his wife and a high-ranking delegation of the Chinese Party and State is the first visit by the top leader of the Chinese Party and State to Vietnam after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, exactly one year after the historic visit to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong (October 2022).

The visit takes place at the time of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Vietnam and China. This will be a new historical milestone in Vietnam-China relations.

Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong held talks with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping at the Party Central Committee Headquarters.
