General Secretary To Lam attends the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress, term 2025-2030

On the morning of October 14, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee officially opened its first Congress for the 2025-2030 term. This is the first Congress of the new Ho Chi Minh City after the merger, marking an important turning point in the development process of this special city.

Attending the Congress were: former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; Politburo member, President Luong Cuong; former Politburo members, former Presidents Nguyen Minh Triet and Truong Tan Sang; Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; former Politburo member, former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; Politburo member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; former Politburo members, former National Assembly Chairmen Nguyen Van An and Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu; former Politburo members, Standing members of the Secretariat Phan Dien and Le Hong Anh.

The congress was attended by leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; revolutionary veterans, heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroes of the People's Armed Forces, heroes of labor; former leaders of the city through the periods; prominent intellectuals, dignitaries, religious dignitaries...

The Congress convened 547 official delegates, including 106 ex-officio delegates and 441 delegates appointed from the Party Committees of communes, wards, special zones and grassroots Party Committees directly under the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

Previously, at the preparatory session, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang said that the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee carried out 2 contents: Summarizing the implementation of the Congress Resolution for the 2020-2025 term and determining the directions, goals and solutions for the 2025-2030 term. The Congress also discussed and contributed opinions to the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress.

The Congress will announce the Politburo and Secretariat's decision on appointing the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, Secretary, Deputy Secretaries, Inspection Committee, Chairman of the Inspection Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term I, 2025-2030; and personnel of the Ho Chi Minh City Delegation to attend the 14th National Congress of the Party.

For many months now, along with the drastic direction of the work of arranging administrative units, the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee has focused on directing the successful organization, on schedule, of the congresses of 10,641 grassroots Party organizations and 173 Party Committees directly under the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

The subcommittees of the congress, the Standing Committee, and the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee have actively and carefully prepared the contents of the documents and reported to the Politburo for comments.

Taking place over 3 days, from October 13 to 15, the Congress has the theme: "Building a clean and strong Party organization and political system; promoting the strength of national solidarity; making breakthroughs in developing science, technology, innovation and the private economy; strengthening national defense, security, foreign affairs, international integration; mobilizing and effectively using all resources for Ho Chi Minh City to pioneer with the whole country in the new era". The motto of the Congress is "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Breakthrough - Creativity".
