In a warm and friendly atmosphere, the delegates together recalled the heroic memories of a time of war and war. The humble and simple people sat quietly in the auditorium, but their feats were glorious and brilliant. They were the young men and women of the 20th century who contributed to making the history of the nation. 50 years of national reunification, war veterans, former Youth Volunteers, and militiamen from all over the country had the opportunity to gather, shake hands and rejoice together, recalling the days of "Splitting Truong Son to save the country, with hearts filled with hope for the future".

During 21 years of arduous and fierce fighting, generations of Uncle Ho's soldiers "the previous generation, the next generation/ Became comrades in the same march" overcame all hardships, sacrificed, dared to fight, determined to fight and won. During the fierce war, millions of "barefoot, steel-willed" cadres and soldiers sacrificed or left a part of their flesh and blood on all battlefields so that our country could "bloom with independence". Returning to civilian life, the soldiers still kept within them the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers. Currently, nearly 3 million members of the Veterans Association have together built the precious tradition of Vietnam's Veterans: "Loyalty, solidarity, exemplary, innovation".

Along with the heroic and resilient fighting spirit of the troops, the Youth Volunteer Force has made enormous contributions to the resistance war against the US to save the country. The battlefield needs the Youth Volunteer Force to be present, wherever there is an enemy, the Youth Volunteer Force will be there. More than 280,000 men, women and young people have gone to the front to become a special force, increasingly promoting the role of revolutionary shock troops, ready to take on heavy tasks in most hot areas, with fire and bullets, serving selflessly on the battlefields and fighting side by side with the liberation army to destroy the enemy.

Contributing to the nation's long war, there was also a force known as the iron wall, which was the Militia and Self-Defense Forces. During the resistance war against the US, the Militia and Self-Defense Forces coordinated with the main force, local troops and people with plows and guns, fighting against the enemy's sweeps, shooting down US planes, sinking enemy warships, and fighting together to defeat US war strategies, contributing significantly to the Great Victory of Spring 1975.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized: These days 50 years ago, with the spirit of: "Fast, faster, bolder, bolder", under the leadership of the Party, the Army and the people of the whole country bravely rushed forward, overcame many hardships and sacrifices, achieved the Great Victory of Spring 1975, the peak of which was the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, liberated the South, reunified the country, gloriously ended the longest, most arduous and greatest resistance war in the history of our nation against foreign invaders, reunited the country, bringing the country into an era of independence, unity, peace and development.

The victory of the Spring of 1975 not only had historical significance for the Vietnamese people, but also had an epochal stature, strongly encouraging the national liberation movement throughout the world. It was the victory of ardent patriotism, of the great national unity, of the will that “nothing is more precious than independence and freedom”. And above all, it was the victory of millions of ordinary but extraordinary people, who were ready to sacrifice their youth, even their lives, for the country to be peaceful and unified, for the nation to be independent.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized: In that common victory, we cannot fail to mention the special role of the war veterans, former Youth Volunteers and Militia and Self-Defense Forces - those who fought on every battlefield, on every front, from the fiery front line to the solid rear, from the fierce battlefields of Truong Son, Tay Nguyen, Nam Bo to the war zones, the temporarily occupied areas by the enemy. The war veterans - Uncle Ho's soldiers - overcame countless hardships and dangers, writing golden pages of history on every battlefield. The Youth Volunteers - the "fire flowers" of a fiery youth, rolled in the rain of bombs and bullets, opened the way, carried ammunition, gave first aid, and created immortal miracles. The Militia and Self-Defense Forces - the soldiers in the countryside, day and night, stuck to their posts, protected their homeland, both produced and fought, and were a solid post in the rear of the Fatherland.

On the happy day of the meeting, Lieutenant General Phung Khac Dang, former Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, expressed his feelings: The victory of April 30, 1975 has been exactly 50 years. Half a century has passed, but the memories of the time of fighting the Americans are still burning, never fading in the hearts of the Vietnamese people whenever this great victory is mentioned. In the hearts of each of us, veterans, former Youth Volunteers, and Militiamen - those who directly fought and served in the fight - we always remember very clearly that in the life-and-death battle to win partial victories, moving towards a comprehensive victory of historical significance, that is to smash the plot of invasion and long-term occupation of our country by the US imperialists; smash the apparatus of the puppet army and government with millions of American lackeys, with the small contribution of veterans, veterans, former Youth Volunteers, and Militiamen. We are always aware that the victory is due to the great contributions, wise leadership, and timely sharp direction of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh. We will never forget the great contributions of the Vietnamese people, the help, love and care for the armed forces, the beloved children they gave birth to. How can we forget the fighting and dedication of the youth of millions of wounded soldiers, the heroic sacrifice of countless heroes, martyrs, generations of heroic cadres and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army, the Youth Volunteer Force on the front lines and the Militia and Self-Defense Forces, along with the spiritual and material support of the Army, people and peace-loving international friends around the world.

Receiving the affection and respect of the Party and State leaders, on behalf of the delegates attending the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong expressed the spirit of the war veterans, former Youth Volunteers, and Militia and Self-Defense Forces who will continue to devote their strength and intelligence, making important contributions in all areas of life, truly being a trustworthy political force, a solid bridge between the Party, the State and the people.
