On the morning of May 13, the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) officially announced that Vietnam will be the host country of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship.
The tournament will take place from August 6 to 19 in the two cities of Viet Tri and Hai Phong . The group stage matches will take place at Viet Tri Stadium and Lach Tray Stadium.
Viet Tri Stadium - which hosted the home matches of the Vietnamese team at the ASEAN Cup 2024, will also be the venue for the two semi-finals, the third-place match and the final of the 2025 AFF Women's Championship.
The 2025 AFF Women's Championship will feature eight teams, including defending champions the Philippines, four-time champions Thailand and three-time champions Vietnam.
The eight teams will be divided into two groups in the draw on June 9. The top two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the winners of the semi-finals competing in the final.
Playing at home, the Vietnamese women's team has a great chance to win the championship after losing 0-4 to the Philippines in the semi-finals and losing 3-4 to Myanmar in the third-place match of the 2022 Women's Football Tournament.

Major General Khiev Sameth - President of AFF shared: "With the support of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), this event opens a promising new chapter for the most prestigious women's football tournament in the region.
With the invaluable support of title partner MSIG, we are witnessing a strong rise of women's football in Southeast Asia, not only in terms of achievements but also in terms of passion, pride and clear goals."
For his part, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan - President of VFF - said: "Vietnam hosting the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship is a great honor and a source of great pride, reflecting the remarkable development of women's football not only in Vietnam but also throughout Southeast Asia.
We are looking forward to the official draw on June 9, another important milestone in our journey to welcome the best women's teams in Southeast Asia to Viet Tri and Hai Phong this August."
Women’s football in Southeast Asia has come a long way on the international stage. Thailand’s women’s team participated in two Women’s World Cups in 2015 and 2019, while the Philippines and Vietnam will both be in the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
