On the morning of May 13, the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) officially announced that Vietnam will be the host country of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship.

The tournament will take place from August 6 to 19 in the two cities of Viet Tri and Hai Phong . The group stage matches will take place at Viet Tri Stadium and Lach Tray Stadium.

Viet Tri Stadium - which hosted the home matches of the Vietnamese team at the ASEAN Cup 2024, will also be the venue for the two semi-finals, the third-place match and the final of the 2025 AFF Women's Championship.

The 2025 AFF Women's Championship will feature eight teams, including defending champions the Philippines, four-time champions Thailand and three-time champions Vietnam.

The eight teams will be divided into two groups in the draw on June 9. The top two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the winners of the semi-finals competing in the final.

Playing at home, the Vietnamese women's team has a great chance to win the championship after losing 0-4 to the Philippines in the semi-finals and losing 3-4 to Myanmar in the third-place match of the 2022 Women's Football Tournament.
