Summer tourism 'heats up' early, Phu Quoc is mentioned

The domestic tourism market in the summer of 2025 is showing positive signs when up to 41% of Vietnamese people said they plan to increase their travel budget in 2025 compared to last year, according to a recent survey by Booking.com.

Search data on this online travel platform between June 1 and July 31 also showed that beach trips (61%) and nature exploration (59%) continued to top the list of choices for Vietnamese families, followed by trips to big cities (45%).

In the country, names like Da Nang , Nha Trang, Da Lat, Phu Quoc or Vung Tau are the most searched destinations. In particular, the number of visitors choosing Phu Quoc for trips of couples, families, and friends is overwhelming.

According to some travel companies in Ho Chi Minh City, people's demand for summer travel remains high, plus the bonus from tourism stimulus programs implemented by travel businesses.

The sales department of Viet Tourism Company said that the number of domestic tourists this summer could increase by 15-20% compared to the same period in 2024. Beach and island destinations, modern entertainment areas and green resorts will still be the top priorities of tourists this summer.

At Vietravel, during this year's summer tourist season, although it is just the beginning of the season, the company has welcomed and served nearly 1,600 tourists to Phu Quoc.

According to the sales department, most tourists choose Phu Quoc tours of 3-4 days to spend with their families, especially families with children who are about to go on summer vacation. Vietravel assessed this as a positive sign showing that Phu Quoc tourism is still receiving attention from tourists.

"Familiar beach destinations still maintain their strong appeal and are receiving much attention and advice from tourists, of which Phu Quoc has emerged thanks to catching up with tourism trends that emphasize personal connections, mental health care and authentic experiences," commented a Vietravel representative.
