Accordingly, regarding the Government Electronic Information Portal's Report dated May 23, 2025, the press reported on the situation of many historical relics and national heritages being damaged, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh commented as follows:
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism shall preside over and coordinate with the People's Committees of the provinces and centrally-run cities: Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Hue and relevant agencies according to their functions, tasks and authority to closely monitor the situation, grasp information reflected by the press on the above issues to promptly have appropriate solutions within their authority; guide, inspect and examine the conservation, restoration and embellishment of relics and heritage sites to ensure effective management, protection and promotion of the value of heritage sites and relics nationwide; report to competent authorities on issues beyond their authority.
Previously, the Government Electronic Information Portal's report in document No. 447/2025/TTDT dated May 23, 2025 reported that the press reported that many historical relics and national heritages were being damaged.
Specifically, a series of historical relics are being seriously encroached upon. The situation of royal tombs being robbed has occurred in Thanh Hoa and Hue - where there is a massive system of royal tombs for many years; serious encroachment on relics in the core area of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex - a UNESCO-recognized world cultural and natural heritage. Many relics and historical works have become hot spots for drug addiction, garbage storage, vandalism, and graffiti. Many restaurants and eateries around the relics have sprung up without permits, directly encroaching on the landscape and historical value of the heritage site.
