The National Target Program on Socio -Economic Development for Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas has been implemented since the end of 2022. Although it is a short period of time, the results achieved have had many positive impacts on the socio-economic development of ethnic minorities and mountainous areas of the locality; poverty reduction, increasing income for people; the economy of ethnic minorities and mountainous areas continues to grow...

The total capital allocated to implement projects in the 2021-2025 period reached over VND 1,108 billion. Of which, Project 1 supports residential land, production land, and domestic water; Project 3 focuses on developing agricultural and forestry production according to the value chain; Project 5 improves the quality of human resources; Project 8 implements gender equality and addresses urgent issues for ethnic minority women and children. In particular, the province has effectively implemented Sub-project 1 under Project 3 with more than 109,000 hectares of forest protected and hundreds of hectares of newly planted production forests. Rice subsidy activities for poor households participating in forest protection also contribute to raising income and awareness of forest resource protection.
The province has approved 65 value chain production projects and 238 community projects, with a disbursement of over 120 billion VND. These projects not only promote the transformation of crop and livestock structures but also help form concentrated commodity production areas, increasing people's income. Notably, some districts such as Ba Be, Cho Don, Cho Moi... have been implementing projects to develop precious medicinal herb growing areas with a total investment of nearly 230 billion VND, in which 58 households have participated in growing medicinal herbs such as Solanum procumbens, Red cassia, Purple velvet antler... Continuing to build a medicinal herb processing factory and organize technical training courses has created jobs, preserved precious genetic resources and contributed to sustainable development.

Through the implementation of component projects, many households have had jobs, stable incomes and have risen in economic development; currently, many projects after being put into use have brought about practical effectiveness, meeting people's aspirations, gradually completing infrastructure in remote areas, creating conditions for people to develop production and stabilize their lives; through investment and construction of infrastructure projects, many localities have been supported in striving to complete the criteria for building new rural areas, especially criteria such as: Traffic, irrigation, natural disaster prevention, rural markets, etc.
According to the assessment of comrade Hoang Thu Trang, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee: Although there are still difficulties, obstacles and shortcomings, overall, the Program has created many clear changes in the highland districts and ethnic minority areas of Bac Kan . Typically, supporting people with economic models... has helped many poor households have stable jobs, escape poverty, contributing to promoting economic growth in ethnic minority areas. Infrastructure works such as roads, irrigation, cultural houses, rural markets have been built synchronously, gradually meeting the essential needs of the people and contributing to perfecting the criteria for building new rural areas in many localities./.
