In 2024, units in the entire General Department effectively implemented 54 science and technology tasks, of which 44 topics and products were eligible for trial production or "O" series production, contributing to improving the capacity to design, test, repair, manufacture new technical weapons and equipment and improve existing technical weapons and equipment.

In 2024 and the first 4 months of 2025, scientific research, innovation promotion, and technical innovation in the General Department have made strong and breakthrough developments. The entire General Department has 1,814 scientific innovation initiatives applied in production, estimated to generate more than 588.8 billion VND in profits. The General Department has recognized 81 initiatives, granted 269 certificates to authors and co-authors of the initiatives; and rewarded 77 individuals and groups with outstanding results.

In 2024, the General Department of Defense Industry continues to be evaluated as one of the leading units in the entire army in terms of the number of high-level awards for the Army's Creative Youth Award: There were 57 projects participating in the 25th Army's Creative Youth Award with many different research fields, of which 46 projects and initiatives won awards, an increase of 35.2% compared to 2023. Also in 2024, the General Department of Defense Industry had 4 projects participating in the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award (Vifotec), of which 3 projects won national awards (2 first prizes, 1 second prize).

In the coming time, the General Department of Defense Industry has identified 7 key tasks on science, technology and environment, focusing on researching and developing new products, improving weapons and technical equipment, completing testing and putting into production products in projects and programs.

On this occasion, the General Department of Defense Industry commended and awarded collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in scientific research and high prizes at national and Ministry of National Defense science competitions and awards.
