President of Azerbaijan and his wife welcome General Secretary To Lam and his wife

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his wife hosted the welcoming ceremony for General Secretary To Lam and his wife on a state visit to Azerbaijan.

After successfully concluding the visit to Kazakhstan, this afternoon local time (tonight Vietnam time), the plane carrying General Secretary To Lam and his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, Baku city, Azerbaijan to begin the high-level visit to Azerbaijan.

The visit took place from May 7-8, at the invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Welcoming General Secretary To Lam and his wife and the delegation were: First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov; Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Vietnam Shovgi Kamal Oglu Mehdizade; Ambassador of Vietnam to the Russian Federation, concurrently in Azerbaijan Dang Minh Khoi and his wife; and a large number of officials and staff of the Embassy of Vietnam to the Russian Federation, concurrently in Azerbaijan.

Next, at the Presidential Palace - Zugulba Palace in the capital Baku, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva hosted a welcoming ceremony for General Secretary To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly.

At the welcoming ceremony, the head of the guard of honor reported to General Secretary To Lam. The national anthems of Vietnam and Azerbaijan were then performed.

To the sound of music, the Guard of Honor marched before President Ilham Aliyev and General Secretary To Lam.

After the welcoming ceremony, the two leaders and their wives took souvenir photos.

The visit by General Secretary To Lam is the highest-level visit by a Vietnamese Party and State leader to Azerbaijan since the establishment of official diplomatic relations in 1992.

The visit contributes to further strengthening the relationship between the two countries, especially in areas where Azerbaijan has strengths, such as the oil and gas industry and many other industries.
