On October 21, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , at the invitation of President Luong Cuong, South African President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa will pay a state visit to Vietnam from October 23-24.

Vietnam and South Africa established diplomatic relations on December 22, 1993. South Africa is Vietnam's largest trade partner and export market in Africa. Total bilateral trade turnover in 2024 will reach nearly 1.8 billion USD.
In the coming time, the two sides can promote cooperation in areas such as mineral exploitation, mechanics, metallurgy, iron and steel, renewable energy, textiles, footwear, fertilizers, processed foods, and supporting industries.
As of July 2025, South Africa had 20 valid investment projects in Vietnam, with an investment capital of 0.88 million USD, ranking 109th out of 151 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.
Vietnam has four investment projects in South Africa with a total capital of 8.86 million USD, ranking 45th out of 84 countries and territories in which Vietnam invests abroad.
