Top 10 schools with the highest competition rate for grade 10 in Ho Chi Minh City 2025

Recently, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has just announced the number of candidates registering for the first choice for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year. Accordingly, this year, Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School has the highest "competition" rate of up to 2.91. This school was established in May 2024 on the basis of reorganizing Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School according to the decision of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

Ranked second is Nguyen Huu Huan High School with 2.14, the next schools are: Vinh Loc High School, Pham Van Sang High School, Le Quy Don High School, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School, Vo Truong Toan High School, Ngo Quyen High School, Nguyen Huu Cau High School, Thu Duc High School.

This year, the whole city has more than 70,000 candidates taking the regular 10th grade entrance exam, of which 5,550 candidates are taking the specialized 10th grade entrance exam and 1,169 candidates are taking the integrated 10th grade entrance exam.

It is expected that from 5pm this afternoon to 5pm on May 19, parents and students can adjust their wishes. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training notes that they can only adjust wishes, not add or remove candidates from the list.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City has more than 88,000 students graduating from grade 9, while the quota for grade 10 in public schools is more than 70,000 students. With the above quota, the rate of junior high school graduates entering grade 10 in public schools is nearly 80%, an increase compared to last year.

The 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City takes place on June 6-7. Candidates will take three subjects: Math, Literature and Foreign Language. The time for the Math and Literature tests is 120 minutes, and the Foreign Language test is 90 minutes. If applying to a specialized school, candidates will take an additional 150-minute specialized subject test.

Admission score for general classes is the total score of three subjects plus incentive and priority points (if any). For specialized classes, the formula is the total score of the three subjects above with coefficient 1, plus the score of the specialized subject exam with coefficient 2.

For the continuingeducation center, Thanh An Secondary and High School of Can Gio district, admission is based on academic records.
