On the afternoon of September 9, Hanoi Medical University organized the event “Match Day 2025 - Registration Day for Resident Physicians in 2025”. Here, excellent candidates entered the important moment.
According to the procedure, each candidate is called in order of exam results and has 30 seconds to call out their major preference. The candidate with the highest score will be selected first, and each major that has enough quota will be closed. Candidates at the bottom of the list will have to choose other majors that still have quota.
When the top 20 candidates shouted out their choices, many majors continued to affirm their strong appeal, such as Obstetrics and Gynecology and Plastic Surgery.

According to information from the school, the 2025 residency exam will be the largest ever with more than 900 candidates participating, while the quota for residency doctors is only more than 400.
Most of the candidates this year are the first generation of medical doctors to study under the innovative program of Hanoi Medical University. Teaching and assessment methods have also changed with the hope of creating a generation of doctors with better professional capacity, meeting the requirements of development and international integration.
Residency is a special training program for newly graduated medical students. The number of residents for each specialty is very small, so this exam has a high competition rate and is quite stressful.
In Vietnam, there are currently 13 schools training resident physicians, of which Hanoi Medical University is the oldest (since 1974). The Ministry of Health considers this a necessary program to train good doctors with practical skills in hospitals.
