After the “fire” lit by the Hoa Lo Prison relic, the night tour “Decoding the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long” was born and received a lot of attention from tourists. Most of the people who experienced it were extremely excited about the journey “back in time to the past” in the sacred space.
Sharing his feelings when visiting this place, Mr. Nguyen Duy Tien (retired cadre in Hanoi) confided: “This is the first time the group has participated in the night tour at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, and I have been there many times during the day. The night tour brought us many interesting things. Besides, during the experience, the group was introduced in detail about all the relics, artifacts and areas in the Imperial Citadel. Through that, it evoked in the hearts of visitors the feeling of a sacred place, a thousand-year-old historical relic of the capital Hanoi, the crystallization of many quintessential historical values”.
For tourists, “Decoding Thang Long Imperial Citadel” is like a train taking them back to the past, an opportunity for them to relax and rest. The Thang Long Imperial Citadel Night Tour not only attracts the elderly but also receives enthusiastic responses from middle-aged people.
Sharing with us, Ms. Lee Jiyoung (Korea) was extremely excited to be a foreign tourist but received many cultural and historical values of Vietnam: "I feel that Vietnamese culture has many similarities with Korea". She learned a lot about the history of Vietnamese dynasties before deciding to join the night tour to better understand the journey of discovery. For her and her family, this was a wonderful experience when she received many gifts, was immersed in ancient Vietnamese culture and Vietnamese cuisine was also very special. She promised that in the near future, she and her relatives and friends will return again, at that time she will be ready to be a tour guide for the group, promoting the beauty of Vietnam and Vietnamese people. As a Hanoian who has visited Thang Long Imperial Citadel many times, Ms. Minh Ha (teacher) also had many very special experiences. For her, Thang Long Imperial Citadel is very beautiful during the day, every time she comes here she feels the love for her country and pride in her people. When experiencing the night tour, she feels that it evokes more emotions and it is different from the day tour, especially when she experiences the complete night tour like this. The activity of offering incense at Nung Mountain - the place to worship 52 kings who lived and worked in the Imperial Citadel evokes in her a sacred feeling, a feeling of connection with the past. She thinks that although the ticket price of the night tour is expensive, the Organizing Committee also gives visitors many gifts, she feels that she receives a lot both materially and spiritually. In general, for middle-aged people, after a busy day of work and worries, the night tour at Thang Long Imperial Citadel can be considered one of the effective solutions for middle-aged people to take time to rest and relax. Young people are the special target of the night tour and play a great role in preserving the historical and cultural values of the nation. Through the interview, 2 students majoring in Literature at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted also had different feelings. Phuong Vy and Phuong Linh both felt excited when compared to the day tour, the night tour has an additional program called "Decoding" to help students pay more attention to answer questions. This activity creates excitement for tourists to listen and understand that their country has a long history and rich culture through dynasties. It can be seen that today's young generation has been and is tending to find the old values of the nation through artistic activities. This is a positive sign when the tastes of young people are following the goal of bringing cultural and historical values closer to the young generation, so that history will live forever and never be forgotten. Thus, from the perspective of generations, the Thang Long Imperial Citadel night tour has brought wonderful experiences to visitors, successfully conveying profound cultural, historical, educational and humane values.
