Cam Pha City: Building a city of a million roses

Cam Pha City aims to closely combine rapid and sustainable economic development with the development of Cam Pha culture and people, becoming a typical example of Quang Ninh culture and people. In which, promoting the movement to build "Cam Pha City - the city of a million roses".

Cam Trung Ward (Cam Pha City) is a bright spot in mobilizing social resources, promoting the spirit of self-management of the people, actively participating in urban beautification, building rose roads, responding to the movement to build "Cam Pha City - the city of a million roses".

Accordingly, since launching the movement, the Ward Fatherland Front Committee, mass organizations and front work committees of residential areas have conducted field surveys on rose planting routes, finding suitable solutions to build rose routes; agreeing on suitable locations in front of agencies, units, households, and businesses, ensuring the same size, type, color, pattern, and easy-to-care-for plant varieties, with the goal of each household planting at least 1 pot of roses.

Ms. Le Thi Tuyet Mai, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Cam Trung Ward (Cam Pha City) said: Every month, the Fatherland Front Committee of the ward presides over and works with the neighborhood to take care of the rose routes, such as spraying root stimulants, spraying pesticides, and fertilizing to make them bloom. Up to now, the whole ward has 5,000 rose pots in residential areas and streets.

The movement to build a “City of Millions of Roses” has spread throughout all the alleys, hamlets, residential groups, neighborhoods, wards, communes, and agencies and units in Cam Pha city. Anywhere in the city, it is easy to see roses blooming brightly.

Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam Dong Ward (Cam Pha City) Doan Ngoc Quang said: Since the flower street was built, public awareness has gradually increased. People do not litter indiscriminately, actively clean the environment, not only on Saturdays and Sundays, but also on weekdays.

Since the beginning of 2021, the city has promoted the movement of planting trees and flowering plants, prioritizing the planting of roses. Roses have high commercial value, used as spices, medicinal herbs, cosmetics, and ornamental plants. Growing roses promotes household economic development, creates more jobs for people, and contributes to social stability.

Rose trees grown in Cam Pha are mostly native varieties, grow well, have fragrant flowers, are basically suitable for the soil and climate, and are loved and welcomed by locals and tourists.

Up to now, there are over 600,000 rose trees planted and cared for in the city. Highlights include: Deo But Lake, Cam Thuy Park, Cam Thanh Park, Cam Tay Park; Cua Ong Temple relic; City Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee headquarters; Ben Do Lake Park; cultural houses, medical stations, parks, landscapes, roads, streets, and public works.

The goal by 2025 is for Cam Pha city to plant about 2 million rose trees. This is one of the activities to gradually build and identify the brand of Cam Pha culture and people with the tradition of "Indomitable - Resilient - Disciplined and Unity", aiming to build Cam Pha into a green, civilized, modern city, a type I urban area.
