Ho Chi Minh City has more than 24,000 'sensitive' establishments that are prone to prostitution.

On the afternoon of June 25, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City held a conference to review the first 6 months of the year and key directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2024.

According to the report at the conference, Ho Chi Minh City is managing nearly 15,000 drug addicts, an increase of 42.21% over the same period in 2023 (equivalent to 4,057 people). Security and order, fire prevention and fighting, and prevention of smuggling of banned substances and prohibited items at drug rehabilitation facilities and social facilities are ensured.

Co Tien Massage Company Limited and Dubai Business Household (Binh Tan District) were fined for administrative violations by the Ho Chi Minh City Cultural - Social Interdisciplinary Inspection Team for using obscene service methods at the establishment.

In addition, the city has 16 locations, gathering places, and routes in 18 wards, communes, and towns with about 60 street prostitutes. At the same time, there are about 24,470 "sensitive" service businesses that are prone to prostitution with about 14,960 employees working.

Employment rate increased

Also according to the report at the conference, in the first 6 months of the year, economic sectors in Ho Chi Minh City attracted and created jobs for more than 166,000 people (reaching 55.38% of the plan). Of which, more than 74,004 new jobs were created (reaching 52.86% of the plan). Compared to the same period in 2023, the job creation rate increased by 2.44%, the new job creation rate increased by 1.55%.

Enterprises have sent 4,137 workers to work abroad, concentrated in traditional markets in industries such as food processing, packaging, and nursing.

Up to now, Ho Chi Minh City has nearly 4.3 million trained workers, reaching a rate of 87.63% and this figure increased by 1.37% over the same period in 2023. The number of workers participating in social insurance in the city is more than 2.5 million people (accounting for 51.75% compared to 4.9 million workers of working age).

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs also assessed that the labor relations at enterprises continued to be maintained in a stable and harmonious manner. As of May 31, the city had 3 labor disputes with 592 workers stopping work. At the same time, it received notices from 23 enterprises to terminate the employment of employees according to the provisions of Clause 6, Article 42 of the Labor Code, with 412 workers losing their jobs.
