
According to Cao Thi Thien Phuc, Head of the Student Department - Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, this year, the Ho Chi Minh City delegation sent out more than 350 officials, coaches, and athletes competing in 5 sports: athletics, swimming, basketball, soccer, and Vovinam, accounting for 10% of the total number of athletes nationwide participating in the tournament.
With the spirit of courage, solidarity, discipline and professionalism, the Ho Chi Minh City Student Sports Team excellently won the first place overall with 147 medals, including 67 Gold medals, 41 Silver medals and 39 Bronze medals.
Specifically, the Vovinam team won 21 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 5 bronze medals; Basketball won 1 gold medal for men, 1 silver medal for women; Athletics team won 7 gold medals, 13 silver medals, 12 bronze medals. Meanwhile, the Swimming team also won the top spot with 38 gold medals, 26 silver medals, 22 bronze medals.
In Football, the athletes also showed a spirit of fair play, honesty and constant effort, excellently winning the Encouragement Prize.
“The achievement of 147 medals and the overall first place is not only the pride of Ho Chi Minh City student sports but also a testament to the will, discipline and aspiration of the young generation of the City named after Uncle Ho. Ho Chi Minh City student sports will continue to train, maintain their form and promote their tradition, conquering new achievements in the future,” Ms. Cao Thi Thien Phuc shared.

Highly appreciating the achievements of the HCM City student sports delegation, Director of the City Department of Education and Training Nguyen Van Hieu said that this was the result of the students' efforts, the care of their families and schools, the support of the HCM City People's Committee - People's Council, and the close connection between the two sectors of Culture - Sports and Education - Training.
“In the near future, Ho Chi Minh City will have policies and regulations for gifted students as well as students with outstanding achievements in the field of physical education and sports. We do not focus on investing in training an athlete, but more importantly, we encourage students to exercise to study well, work well, become global citizens, and be useful to the country and society,” he emphasized.



On this occasion, Ho Chi Minh City commended and awarded certificates of merit to 331 individuals with outstanding achievements at the 2025 National High School Sports Tournament, including 280 students and 51 teachers from 126 educational institutions in the city.
The 2025 National High School Sports Tournament kicked off from June 9 to 16 in Hue , attracting nearly 2,270 athletes from 53 delegations across the country, competing in five events: football, basketball, swimming, athletics and Vovinam.
Athletes participating in the tournament are primary, secondary and high school students; and continuing education students aged 18 and under studying at educational institutions in the national education system.
