Elderly people in Ho Chi Minh City receive free bus tickets automatically with ID card, VNeID

From today (November 11), seniors in Ho Chi Minh City can receive free bus tickets automatically using their ID cards, citizen ID cards or the VNeID application quickly and easily. This method applies to over 30 bus routes.

The Public Transport Management Center (Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction) has just announced the implementation of a method to receive free bus tickets for elderly passengers (aged 60 and over) using citizen identification cards (CCCD), ID cards (CC) or the VNeID application.

This is a solution to improve the quality of public passenger transport services by bus in Ho Chi Minh City, ensuring the correct identification of subjects receiving free bus fare support, convenience and promoting digital transformation.

Through this, the quality of bus service is improved, bringing maximum convenience to elderly passengers when traveling by bus.

This method is applied on subsidized bus routes with T10 payment devices installed from November 11 (30 routes). Elderly passengers with CC cards, CCCD cards (with QR codes) or valid VNeID accounts are eligible.

The center requires drivers and bus service staff to be responsible for guiding and supporting free ticket collection operations, and checking the validity of CCCD/CC/VNeID if necessary.

Instructions for passengers to get automatic tickets:

Get tickets with physical CCCD card:

Step 1: Prepare CC card or CCCD (new type with QR code).

Step 2: Insert the QR code on the CC/CCCD card into the device mounted on the vehicle.

Step 3: The device will make a sound announcement "Free ticket - Seniors" and print a paper ticket.

Step 4: Passengers receive paper tickets to begin their trip.

Note: Not applicable to old ID cards without QR Code.

Get tickets using QR code in VNeID app:

Step 1: Open VNeID application, select "CCCD Card QR Code".

Step 2: Insert the QR code into the device on the bus.

Step 3: The device will make a sound announcement "Free ticket - Seniors" and print a paper ticket.

Step 4: Passengers receive paper tickets to begin their trip.

Manual support:

Step 1: Bus service staff directly check CC card/CCCD/VNeID application with the naked eye.

Step 2: Press the free ticket button on the device for the passenger.

Viet Thang Interprovincial Transport and Tourism Cooperative: Routes 22, 32, 74, 81.

Bao Yen Construction Services and Tourism Company Limited: Routes 01, 04, 43, 65, 152.

City Transport Joint Stock Company: Routes 59, 69, 72.

Saigon Passenger Transport Joint Stock Company: Routes 06, 10, 27, 38, 45, 50, 52, 58, 64, 91, 93, 139, 148.

- Transport Cooperative 19-5: Routes 122, 19.

- Transport Joint Stock Company 26: Routes 20, 110, 140.
