Ho Chi Minh City leads the country in digital transformation by 2024

DNVN - Maintaining its leading position in the national digital transformation journey, Ho Chi Minh City continues to lead the country in the digital transformation index (DTI) in 2024. This result not only affirms the strong adaptability of the city after the merger but also demonstrates the strategic vision in building a "digital super city".

According to the results of the 2024 Digital Transformation Index (DTI) assessment announced by the Ministry of Science and Technology on October 21 , Ho Chi Minh City continues to affirm its pioneering position when leading the group of 63 provinces and cities ( before the merger ) and ranking 4th in the group of 34 provinces and cities (after the merger ) .

This year's assessment method has been adjusted into two groups to accurately reflect the new administrative scale and changes in the actual implementation of digital transformation of localities . The fact that Ho Chi Minh City still maintains the leading group in both rankings shows the comprehensive development and rapid adaptability of the " super city " in the early stages of implementing the unified administrative model .

TP Achieve high positions in most criteria, especially leading the country in digital awareness and digital institutions , and being in the leading group in digital infrastructure, digital economy and digital society . The 2024 DTI Index is built on the basis of 7 main indicators and 47 component indicators , measuring the development level of digital government , digital economy and digital society .

In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City will have unifiedly operated shared digital platforms , providing 1,996 online public services (of which 1,778 services have reached the process level ), aiming towards a model of creative, serving and data - based government . In the digital economy , the contribution rate will reach 22 % of GRDP, expected to increase to 25 % by 2025. Regarding digital society , 100% of people will have digital identities and electronic identification accounts , creating a favorable foundation for accessing digital utilities .

In particular, Ho Chi Minh City is currently ranked 30th in the world in Blockchain , demonstrating its orientation towards developing strategic technologies such as artificial intelligence , semiconductors and blockchain .

Maintaining the leading position in the country in digital transformation in the first year after the merger shows the determination and management capacity of the city 's political system , and at the same time affirms the right choice in considering science , technology , innovation and digital transformation as key driving forces to promote growth .

Ho Chi Minh City aims to have the digital economy account for 30-40% of GRDP by 2030 , becoming an international-standard innovation center , focusing on key solutions such as perfecting data management, accelerating the progress of key projects , attracting strategic investment - typically the nearly 2 billion USD AI Super Data Center project from G42 Group ( UAE ) and developing high - quality digital human resources .
