This is the content of the document registering the emulation covenant target for 2025, recently issued by the City People's Committee. This figure is 57% higher than the Government 's target of GDP per capita nationwide this year of over 5,000 USD.
GRDP per capita is calculated by dividing the total product in the area by the average population. This index reflects the value of goods and services produced by the entire economy in a year on average per person.
Ho Chi Minh City is part of the emulation cluster of 6 centrally run cities in 2025, along with Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Can Tho and Hue. In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City's GRDP per capita will be about 7,600 USD, or more than 197 million VND at the current exchange rate, ranking 2nd among 6 centrally run cities, after Hai Phong.
Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City ranked 3rd in the country in terms of cost, after Hanoi and Quang Ninh in the spatial cost of living index (SCOLI) ranking in 2024. Surveyed by the General Statistics Office, SCOLI reflects the difference in prices of goods and consumer services serving people's daily lives between localities.
Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City has a SCOLI of 99.8% of Hanoi. Some product groups here have lower average prices than Hanoi such as clothing, food services, culture, entertainment and tourism, transportation, equipment and household appliances.
On the contrary, some other groups are more expensive: housing, education, medicine and health services. According to the General Statistics Office, Ho Chi Minh City is one of the largest economic centers in the country with high per capita income leading to high spending, so the price of goods and services is much higher than in other localities.
In addition to the GRDP per capita target, this year the economic locomotive also registered to compete for targets with GRDP increasing by over 10%; total budget revenue of VND520,089.13 billion; disbursement rate of public investment capital plan of 95% and total export turnover value of USD52.6 billion.
Last year, Ho Chi Minh City's GRDP growth ranked 4th among 5 centrally-run cities, with 7.17%, only higher than Hanoi (6.5%).
