Accordingly, 16 schools in 16 professional clusters of the Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) of Ho Chi Minh City will pilot the restriction of students using mobile phones and electronic devices during recess in phase 1 from October 2025 to the end of semester 1 of the 2025-2026 school year, including:
After the pilot phase ends, the Department of Education and Training plans to expand and officially apply it to all general education institutions in the city from January 2026.
The Department requires each school to have at least three sports, arts, folk games, reading or life skills clubs during recess. Students must participate in at least one activity.
In addition, schools organize commitments with students and their families, and send weekly monitoring results to parents. Violators will be warned, criticized, or disciplined according to regulations if they re-offend.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the regulation restricting students from using phones and mobile devices during recess aims to build a healthy, safe, and friendly school environment in the spirit of "happy school", increasing physical activities, communication, and entertainment of students during recess, contributing to improving the quality of comprehensive education.
