Although the work is still busy and difficulties are piling up, the organization of the Mid-Autumn Festival for children is still taken care of by the Party Committee, government, socio -political organizations and people, so that the children can have a complete Mid-Autumn Festival.

As the moon was just beginning to appear on the top of Na Mountain, the children and teenagers of Ban Din gathered at the Village Cultural House to participate in the program "Happy Mid-Autumn Festival". After the performances, there were folk games organized by the leaders, followed by a feast on the full moon night. The feast was not really full because the locality had just experienced a storm and flood, but the innocent eyes and bright smiles of the children made the festival night warm and complete.
Ms. Pham Thi Tinh - Head of Ban Din village shared: "This year's Mid-Autumn Festival was supposed to be organized on a grand scale with many activities. The Party Committee and the People's Committee of the commune had provided guidance and direction, and the village had also implemented it, but due to the impact of storm No. 10, all plans had to stop. However, because the children were very excited, the villagers still tried to mobilize and support the organization of the Mid-Autumn Festival so that the children could enjoy the festival."
On October 4, a special “Full Moon Festival” was held right at the yard of Van Hoi Primary and Secondary School, Viet Hong Commune thanks to the attention of the Party Committee, the government, Lao Cai Provincial Youth Union and sponsors. All turned their attention to the children in the flooded area of Viet Hong - where storm No. 10 affected 274 families, many households lost their homes, properties and crops.
This year’s Mid-Autumn Festival had no lion dances or drums, but was filled with love. Each child received a gift of cakes and candies from the Organizing Committee; families affected by floods and landslides received additional financial support or bicycles from benefactors. These gifts helped ease some of the difficulties and gave the children more motivation to overcome the sad memories of the flood.
The road through Viet Hong commune has been cleared, communication has been restored, houses are being cleaned, Tay people are busy picking up fallen rice, students have returned to school. Although life is still difficult, with the attention of the Party and Government , the sharing of philanthropists and the efforts of the people, Viet Hong will soon revive.
Saying goodbye to Viet Hong when the moon was shining brightly on the mountain top, the song Chiec lang ong sao (Star Lantern) echoed: “… I hold the star lantern and sing loudly, Uncle Ho’s starlight shines everywhere…” made our childhood memories flood back into our hearts. The full moon night is still bright, illuminating faith and hope on the flooded land today.
