Ninh Binh The painting of carps playing with the moon depicts a vast rice field in Tam Coc, promising to be a tourist attraction during the upcoming Ninh Binh Tourism Week.
Visitors to Tam Coc field this time will be able to admire the painting "Ly Ngu Vong Nguyet" or also known as the painting of carp playing with the moon, on a rice field of more than 9,500 m2. The painting is one of the highlights of "Ninh Binh Tourism Week 2023" with the theme "Golden Color of Tam Coc - Trang An", taking place from May 27 to June 4 in Tam Coc - Bich Dong tourist area, Trang An eco-tourism area and some tourist attractions in the area.
In feng shui, carp is associated with the image of "jumping over the dragon gate", so the painting "carp watching the moon" represents aspiration, effort and strong will to overcome all difficulties to reach success.

Mr. Bui Van Manh, Director of Ninh Binh Department of Tourism, shared that the painting was the result of about 5 months of work by local farmers, combined with help from businesses. The cost of creating the painting was insignificant, but the efforts of the participants were enormous. Farmers from Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu district, joined with experts to calculate the time for planting, creating plots, and shaping the painting in the middle of the winding Ngo Dong river.
Every year, Ninh Binh will bring visitors a special painting on this occasion. Last year, the painting on rice had the theme of "festival flags".
An important message conveyed through this painting is the desire for farmers, together with the government, to participate in preserving the cultural and natural values of the heritage to exploit community tourism. This is also an important basis for Ninh Binh to develop sustainable tourism.
Mr. Manh said that during the 3 summer months, Ninh Binh tourism faced many difficulties due to hot weather, students entering exam season and people preferring to go to the beach. Ninh Binh hopes to improve this situation through the tourism week event, which has been held annually since 2018.
According to Mr. Manh, despite the unfavorable weather, Ninh Binh's scenery these days is very beautiful with the brilliant yellow color of ripe rice everywhere. Ninh Binh wants to create a "golden season" brand for the locality.
This year, the tourism week will have a series of activities such as visiting walking streets, rural markets, organizing folk games, and taking photos of the golden season of Tam Coc.

Regarding preparations to welcome guests, Mr. Manh said that the Ninh Binh Provincial Department of Tourism has promptly directed restaurants, hotels, and tourist attractions in the area to comply with price posting, re-check infrastructure, and ensure professional service quality.
This year, Ninh Binh expects to welcome 100,000 visitors to Tam Coc and about 400,000 visitors from the whole province during the tourism week. This number is higher than last year when there were about 85,000 visitors to Tam Coc and 360,000 visitors from the whole province during the event. Currently, Ninh Binh has about 800 accommodation establishments and 10,000 rooms. The locality expects to be able to fill about 70% of the room capacity in the area on weekends, during the event.
