DTO - The Red Cross Society (RC) at all levels in the province has promoted its core role as a bridge in humanitarian and charitable activities, a solid support for poor households and people in difficult circumstances. With the motto of being quick, timely, effective, and covering all subjects, many volunteer movements have spread widely and left their mark in the community.
Collectives and individuals who have made many contributions to humanitarian activities in the province received a letter of gratitude from the Executive Committee of the Provincial Red Cross Society.
The year 2023 marks the 77th glorious year of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (November 23, 1946 - November 23, 2023). Throughout the history of the Vietnamese people, in difficult times, the humanitarian spirit has grown stronger, overcoming all limits and barriers to make the red shirt even more vibrant. This is the role and responsibility in inheriting and promoting the nation's tradition of humanity, carrying out the noble and sacred humanitarian mission assigned by the Party and State to continue writing pages of history imbued with humanity of the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
In response to the movement "Good people, good deeds - joining hands to build a compassionate community", the Provincial Red Cross Association has just held a ceremony to honor the collectives and individuals of "Flowers of good deeds" in 2023, who have made many contributions to the humanitarian cause of the province and officially launched support for the Provincial Humanitarian Assistance Fund in 2023 and the following years. Comrade Nguyen Huu Thoi - Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Association, said: “2023 is a year with many important milestones for the Association's work and the provincial Red Cross movement. That is the event of merging the Oriental Medicine Association and the Blind Association into the Provincial Red Cross Association, from a social organization doing humanitarian work with 6 tasks and 7 fields of operation according to the Law on Red Cross Activities of Vietnam. Now it has become a social organization doing humanitarian and professional social work with 19 tasks and 7 main fields of operation according to the Law. Although it is necessary to focus on perfecting, arranging, and transferring organization, personnel, finance, and assets after the merger, the Association's work and the Red Cross movement in general, the field of Oriental medicine, and the blind in particular, have achieved very valuable results, with the total value of humanitarian activities implemented by the Associations at all levels of 240 billion VND (an increase of 64 billion VND) compared to 2022".
It is known that 2023 is the first year that the Provincial Red Cross Association launched the movement "Good people, good deeds - joining hands to build a compassionate community" across the province. The purpose of the movement is to spread compassion, encourage kind actions, contribute to building a cultural lifestyle, promote humanitarian values as well as widely develop the movement of doing good deeds in each agency, school, organization, enterprise, and community. From there, help those in difficult circumstances to rise up in life with the motto "Leave no one behind". After the movement was launched, thousands of collectives and individuals registered to participate in the implementation with good and effective ways. Initially, from the votes from localities and units, 12 collectives achieved the title of "Compassionate Community" and 77 individuals achieved the title of "Good people, good deeds" at the provincial level in 2023.
Mr. Luu Hoang Tan - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dong Thap Lottery Company Limited, said: “In the past time, Dong Thap Lottery Company Limited has always accompanied the Provincial Red Cross Association to implement many new programs and solutions in humanitarian assistance for poor households, households in difficult circumstances, and street lottery ticket vendors in the province. With its role, the individual mobilized and connected with 4 Lottery Company Limited in the Mekong Delta to support through the Provincial Red Cross Association with a total budget of more than 2.5 billion VND to build 50 new Red Cross houses according to the "3 hard" criteria. In addition, Dong Thap Lottery Company Limited also supported the cost of organizing "Zero-VND Kitchen" for street lottery ticket vendors in Cao Lanh City and neighboring districts with an amount of 15 million VND/month...”.
At the "Flowers of Good Deeds" gratitude ceremony in 2023, the Provincial Red Cross Association launched a campaign to support the Provincial Humanitarian Assistance Fund in 2023 and the following years, to help overcome difficulties caused by natural disasters, fires, serious incidents, people affected by Agent Orange, patients with serious illnesses and other disadvantaged people in need of social assistance, not for profit. In addition to the initial contribution of 1 billion VND from the State budget; to date, the Provincial Humanitarian Assistance Fund has received nearly 2 billion VND in support from organizations and individuals inside and outside the province, contributing to share with people in difficult circumstances to soon rise up in life.
According to the Provincial Red Cross Association, the organization of the "Flowers of Good Deeds" gratitude ceremony in 2023 is a form of recognition and honor for collectives and individuals who have made many positive contributions to social and humanitarian activities. At the same time, we hope to continue to connect and maintain close relationships between the Red Cross Association and organizations and individuals who are businesses, philanthropists, benefactors, and volunteers for the red shirt of love inside and outside the locality, mobilizing more and more resources to contribute to the Provincial Humanitarian Assistance Fund. Thereby, effectively performing the function of the Red Cross Association as a bridge and coordinating social and humanitarian activities in the locality.
