Gratitude and admiration

Although the war ended many years ago, its consequences and lingering effects remain heavy and persistent in the minds of the Vietnamese people. As is customary, every July, the entire country simultaneously holds activities to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers, and families of those who sacrificed their lives and blood for the peace of the country, for the independence and freedom of the nation.

In keeping with the nation's beautiful tradition and moral principle of "drinking water, remembering the source," the care for the families of martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and those who have contributed to the revolution has always been a priority for the Party and the State. This demonstrates gratitude and admiration for the immense contributions, sacrifices, and merits of previous generations who dedicated their youth and sacrificed for national independence, the freedom of the Fatherland, and the happiness of the people. It also educates the sense of responsibility, civic duty, and profound gratitude of all segments of the population towards the preceding generations.

According to statistics from the Thanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the province currently has 350,377 people who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution, including 4,634 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers (64 of whom are still alive); 55,977 martyrs; 860 veteran revolutionary cadres; 444 pre-revolution cadres; 43,610 wounded soldiers; 15,977 sick soldiers; 15,237 people who participated in the resistance war and their children affected by chemical toxins; 1,169 people who contributed to the revolution; 1,636 people who participated in the resistance war and were captured and imprisoned by the enemy; and 210,833 people who participated in the resistance war and were awarded medals and decorations.

Under the leadership and guidance of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, and the Provincial People's Committee, and with the responsible cooperation of all levels, sectors, and businesses, Thanh Hoa currently has 66,823 people with meritorious services to the revolution and their relatives receiving preferential allowances; over 99.8% of families of people with meritorious services to the revolution have a living standard equal to or higher than the average living standard of the community where they reside; 100% of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers have been adopted and cared for for life by agencies, departments, units, organizations, and businesses inside and outside the province.

The dedication and sacrifice of the heroic martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and those who have contributed to the revolution for the independence and freedom of the nation and the happiness of the people are invaluable, not only for yesterday and today but also for generations to come. Therefore, gratitude and admiration for these great contributions, sacrifices, and merits must be expressed regularly and continuously through concrete and practical actions, not just on July 27th, not just for an individual or an organization, but as a sacred duty of a nation and a people.
