Exhibition "Ceramic Invitation" at Củi Lũ Art Space

In June 2025, the exhibition "Gom Thiep" in the Central region officially opened at Củi Lu Art Space - Hoi An with the participation of many artists from the three regions of the North, Central and South and art-loving tourists. The exhibition "Gom Thiep" is co-organized by Nguyen Huy Thiep Art Space, Gallery 39 and curated by artist Le Thiet Cuong.

After the first "Gom Thiep" exhibition (at 22 Hang Buom, Hanoi ) in April 2025, this exhibition in Hoi An featured 230 works by 42 artists, including famous names such as: Le Tri Dung, Phan Cam Thuong, Le Thiet Cuong, Dao Hai Phong, Nguyen Xuan Hoang, Nguyen Quang Thieu, Tran Vinh, Tran Nhat Thang, Dang Xuan Hoa, Tran Thang, Ha Huy Muoi, Dang Tien, Do Dung, Phuong Binh, Ha Tri Hieu...

The space is in keeping with the spirit of "Ceramic Cards".

The event also featured the appearance of 6 new artists: Duong Minh Long, Pham Ngoc Tram, Ly Truc Son, Le Thu Huong, Vuong Linh.

More than 200 Bat Trang blue and white ceramic works are more than 200 compositions adapted from story titles, plots, dissections and especially "short sayings", very "expensive" sentences taken from the works that made the name of writer Nguyen Huy Thiep: "What glory is not built on shame" (Golden Fire), "Look at the river of life, freezing cold..." (The Brown Sail of That Time). "Words are so terrible, they are ghosts" (Drop of Blood), "Even God is sold cheaply" (Retired General), "The King is a giant lonely mass, he plays a very good role in the court" (Golden Fire), "Life is easy, just look into the eyes of children and live" (Life is easy)...

At the opening of the exhibition "Thiep Pottery" in Hoi An, artist Dao Hai Phong shared: "Nguyen Huy Thiep loves painting! He socializes with and loves painters. Nguyen Huy Thiep always respects painters with personality and admires the way painters live! He also likes to paint, that's why he chose to paint pottery and I think that's how Nguyen Huy Thiep plays alone...".

Painter Dao Hai Phong especially mentioned painter Le Thiet Cuong: "Le Thiet Cuong is almost one of the few painters who are very close to Nguyen Huy Thiep, so they understand each other and like each other's works. Le Thiet Cuong is always the one who comes up with ideas to connect everything in the artist's life with events related to art in a very reasonable and impressive way... But unfortunately, due to health reasons, painter Le Thiet Cuong could not attend this exhibition.

Regarding the fact that artist Le Thiet Cuong chose Củi Lũ Art Space as the venue for his exhibition, artist Dao Hai Phong said: This is a relatively stable art venue and the 'atmosphere' in Hoi An really needs art events like this.

Director Le Ngoc Thuan is a very open-minded person. Củi Lũ Art Space was founded by artist Le Thiet Cuong with the desire that painting art as well as other cultural events will shine here...

The exhibition space "Ceramic Cards" is delicately decorated.

As the organizer, Director Le Ngoc Thuan said: "From the perspective of an artist, having participated in many domestic and international exhibitions, I always aspire to build an art space in the heritage land of Hoi An - where I was born, and at the same time put Củi Lũ Art Space on the map of Vietnamese art, becoming an art convergence point to introduce to international friends".

Director Le Ngoc Thuan shared, as artist Dao Hai Phong said, the "atmosphere" in Hoi An really needs events like the exhibition "Gom Thiep" and Cui Lu Art Space" which have become "bridges" to continue writing artistic stories. Hopefully in the near future there will be many good exhibitions like "Gom Thiep" so that in addition to the heritage story, Hoi An also has an ecosystem of creative spaces, for many artists from all over to gather...

The exhibition "Gom Thiep" at Củi Lu Art Space - Hoi An takes place from June 14 to June 28. The third destination of the exhibition will be Ho Chi Minh City. This is the final destination in the artistic journey to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the birth of writer Nguyen Huy Thiep (1950-2025).
