Specifically: Meat output increased 1.8 times (from 4.0 million tons to more than 7.4 million tons), eggs increased 2.9 times (from nearly 6.4 billion to 18.3 billion), fresh milk increased 3.7 times (from 0.3 million tons to 1.12 million tons. In 2022 alone, the livestock production value reached 23.7 billion USD, accounting for nearly 27% of the agricultural production value and 5.8% of the national GDP. In particular, it created livelihoods for more than 10 million rural workers, ensured food supply for 100 million people and millions of tourists, and began to have export products. In the first 9 months of 2023, the export value of livestock products reached 369 million USD, an increase of 26.4% over the same period in 2022.

According to Mr. Tien, livestock products not only contribute to ensuring food security but also ensure nutritional security for the people. The ability to proactively provide food provided by the livestock industry is one of the important factors helping Vietnam proactively prevent and successfully fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
