Prospects for promoting cooperation between Vietnam and the Republic of Nauru

On June 13, Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam paid a courtesy call to Nauru High Commissioner to Australia, Ms. Camilla Solomon.

At the meeting, High Commissioner Camilla Solomon highly appreciated the friendly diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Nauru and congratulated Ambassador Pham Hung Tam on being appointed by the President of Vietnam as concurrent Ambassador to the Republic of Nauru.

High Commissioner Camilla Solomon expressed her wish that the two sides would exchange more delegations to learn about national development experiences and cooperation opportunities in areas of common interest such as tourism, trade, people-to-people exchange, climate change, maritime security and green economy .

She also recalled her good relationships with Vietnamese people during her student days in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

For his part, Ambassador Pham Hung Tam highly appreciated the Vietnam-Nauru friendship since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 2006.

The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to strengthening friendly relations with Nauru, emphasizing that during the visit of Nauruan President Baron Divavesi Waqa to Vietnam in 2018, the leaders of the two countries agreed to strengthen relations, exchange delegations, cooperate in areas of mutual interest and coordinate at multilateral forums, especially the United Nations and the Global Environment Facility.

Ambassador Pham Hung Tam introduced to High Commissioner Camilla Solomon about Vietnam's experience in national development and cooperation opportunities in the fields of trade, fisheries, aquaculture, agriculture , tourism and climate change response./.
