Cooperation between the Russian Federation and Vietnam has many positive aspects.

In an interview with the Director General of VNA, the Russian President affirmed his readiness to expand cooperation with Vietnam, acknowledged the successful investments of Vietnamese businesses, and pledged to create all conditions for Vietnamese businesses to operate smoothly.

According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in the Russian Federation, on June 18, the first day of the 19th General Assembly of the Organization of Asia -Pacific News Agencies (OANA) and related events in Saint Petersburg (Russian Federation), and ahead of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum 2025, President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation met with and interviewed the heads of delegations from OANA news agencies and representatives of major media organizations around the world.

The conversation took place in a question-and-answer format and focused on Russia's perspective on promoting regional and global economic cooperation; and Russia's views and policies in addressing key global issues.

Responding to a question from the Director General of the Vietnam News Agency, Vu Viet Trang, regarding Russia's initiatives and vision related to the Asian region, Southeast Asia, and the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, President Putin affirmed that Russia considers Southeast Asia a very promising region in terms of both its share in the world economy and its rapid growth rate. Russia's cooperation with Southeast Asia is developing with increasing trade turnover.

President Putin emphasized the exceptionally good relationship that has stood the test of time. He affirmed that the relationship between Russia and Vietnam has not been affected by the rapid developments in the world.

Cooperation between the two countries has many bright spots, such as in the fields of scientific research and energy. The Russian President said he was ready to expand cooperation, including providing "our Vietnamese friends" with opportunities to work in the Russian Federation in the hydrocarbon sector.

He particularly acknowledged the successful investments of Vietnamese businesses in Russia's agricultural sector and pledged to create all favorable conditions for Vietnamese investors to operate smoothly.

President Putin also highly appreciated cooperation in the field of education and human resource training, noting its "double benefit": on the one hand, it helps Vietnam acquire a highly skilled workforce, and on the other hand, it strengthens the sincere and loyal relationship between the friends of Russia and Vietnam.

President Putin reiterated the warm feelings he experienced during his visits to Vietnam, and especially during his meetings with representatives of former students who had studied at universities of the former Soviet Union and present-day Russia.

The Russian president happily said, "During those meetings, I didn't feel like I was abroad, but rather like I was in Moscow or Saint Petersburg."

Most recently, General Secretary To Lam paid an official visit to Russia and attended the 80th anniversary celebration of the victory over fascism. The results achieved in the talks between the two leaders showed that the two countries are cooperating more effectively and substantively, bringing benefits to both sides.

Also at the meeting, in response to questions from leaders of leading world news agencies on current affairs such as the Iran-Israel conflict, negotiations with Ukraine, the resumption of Russia-Europe relations, the rearmament plans of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), cooperation in Asia, etc., President Putin affirmed that Moscow is open to negotiations with European countries and supports the current trend of restoring relations with the United States.

Director General of VNA Vu Viet Trang respectfully thanked Russian President Putin for his special attention to the press, creating conditions for news agencies and media outlets to access official and timely information.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism, the Director General of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), Vu Viet Trang, respectfully presented President Putin of the Russian Federation with a bilingual photo book titled "100 Years of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism," compiled and published by the VNA Publishing House.
