According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Tho, Director of the Consulting and Admissions Center of Saigon College of Tourism Technology, many candidates often make the mistake of only focusing on choosing a school and forgetting the most important factor: choosing a major that suits their passion and ability. "If the university door does not open, you can absolutely find opportunities in the college system" - Mr. Tho affirmed.

In many countries, many good students still go to junior college instead of university. "Remember that going to university or junior college is your decision, not the wish of others. Once you decide to go to junior college, be proud that this is your number one choice. Then you will be comfortable, find joy and success" - Dr. Hai advised.

Compared to university, college has its own advantages: Students can shorten their study time, reduce costs, and enter the labor market early.

Dr. Le Si Hai said that high school graduates who study at colleges only need to receive a diploma after 2-2.5 years to enter the labor market. At the same time, in addition to saving time, college students save costs compared to university students. College students also have their own advantage because 70% of their study time is for practice, so they will be given priority when entering the labor market.

Experts discuss issues related to current college enrollment and human resources

At Van Lang Saigon College, right from the career counseling stage, the school has determined to help candidates understand themselves and choose the right major they like instead of just focusing on choosing a "hot" major. Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Chieu Anh, Head of the school's Communications and Admissions Department, said that in addition to official training programs for students, the school also organizes hundreds of workshops and discussions with businesses. Open jobs

Connecting schools with businesses in training is one of the bright spots of many colleges today. These schools have a network of connections with hundreds of businesses, thereby creating opportunities for students to intern right from the first year, practice their profession and find jobs.

According to Dr. Le Si Hai, currently, businesses pay more attention to the actual contributions of employees than whether they have a university or college degree. Because up to 70% of the study time is spent on practice, college students have an advantage when entering the labor market.

Binh Minh Saigon College has more than 600 businesses in its network. From there, students have many opportunities to practice, intern and find jobs after graduation.

Saigon Polytechnic College also cooperates with enterprises to organize business semesters. Therefore, about 90% of the school's students have jobs before receiving their diplomas. Every year, the school organizes a job fair to solve the 10% of unemployed students. In addition to domestic enterprises, the school also cooperates with foreign enterprises so that if necessary, students can work abroad.

Dr. Le Si Hai believes that the notion that "college students only become workers, university students become teachers" is incorrect. Whether or not one becomes a manager or executive depends on the qualities of each person. College students do not stop at what they have learned in school, but must also study regularly anytime, anywhere.

Businesses today evaluate candidates based on knowledge - skills - attitude. Attitude is the spirit of eagerness to learn new knowledge, is the sense of responsibility - the issue that businesses are very concerned about.
