The match, taking place at Inter & Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida, is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. local time, or 5 a.m. in Vietnam.
As the two teams were about to take to the field to start the game, referee Clement Turpin immediately called for a stoppage because he noticed dark clouds and strong winds appearing even though there was no rain yet.
Immediately, the players were asked to leave the field, and the audience was led down to the hallway area inside the field to ensure absolute safety.
The match was reportedly changed from a "shower" forecast to a very close thunderstorm warning, so organizers decided to postpone it.
This is considered a standard international precaution to protect players, officials and spectators.

The normal safety procedure is to check for lightning within a 13km radius. If there is none, the match will continue. Otherwise, each time lightning is detected, the waiting time will be extended by 30 minutes.
After an hour of waiting, the match finally started at 7:05 p.m. local time (6:05 a.m. Vietnam time). US media reported that the weather in Orlando was still very hot, with no rain.
In addition to the disruption caused by weather concerns, the match was also marred by empty stands, with some social media accounts reporting that only about 100 people showed up to watch the match.
